Half of Dawnstar wiped out by vamp attack

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 8:35 pm

OK, so apparently I had been to Dawnstar a few saves back and missed some real action, just hopped back in to start the Razor quest, and I'm greeted by the kajit's standing around a body saying "Oh my, what happened...". So I look and it's the body of Abelone, with the bodies of Fruki, Lond, and two guards nearby. I walk through the town and there's another dead guard, Irgnir's dead along with two dead vampire thralls, then again near the inn another dead guard and a deceased master vampire.

I think the main reason for this DLC was to secretly cut down on the frivolous amount of NPC's living in the world.....

Edit...on the 360 version......

Are you on computer? Then download a mod called My skyrim people protected on steam, I have honestly not had one npc die while using it.

Nope, 360 player, so they're dead unless I want to sift through saves from hours back and see if I can pinpoint the time before they all were slaughtered...and this really does kinda irk me, I'm the type of player that tries to keep all friendly npc's alive, makes the world feel more full and alive. Now, dunno, kinda svcks munkey butt.

That does svck, My only advice to you would be to start the dawnguard dlc over and avoid all major towns and rush through the story and hope for a SPOILER...........destroy all vampire/dawnguard faction. That should cease attacks.

Yeah, I completely avoid visiting any city or village during the DG questline, as to avoid any random vampire attacks. It is not a great solution, but it does work.

It is annoying, I never fast travel to towns or cities to try avoid the random attacks, they tend to be more common when you fast travel to a town or city. Or at least they seem to be more common.

The biggest issue I have with Dawnguard besides getting the dragon scroll. Great idea in theory but Beth must've never tested it because this was a terrible idea in it's execution. Add in the merchants with Finite money getting killed and that problem is 50 times worse.

The even bigger issue is that these attacks force you to play Dawnguard. Never had that problem with Shivering Isles, I don't have Sheogorath in my head every night screaming, Greymarch or No cheese for you. A 1 time prompter that only lasts for 2 seconds is all that Shivering Isles does and it's easily forgettable. With Dawnguard though, no you have to do it, otherwise you can eventually kiss all the non essential NPC's in your cities good bye.

Basically this is more evidence that Beth doesn't give a [censored] about Roleplaying at all.

some people say that vampires also had attacked during day but what i noticed was for example:
if i enter lets say riverwood at 11pm and go to inn there, there might not be a attack at that moment but once you come out next morning from inn boom attack and you would say man vampires attack during day too but actually that attack was trigger by me walking around town late last night they didnt spawn at that moment but once you go trough next loading screen to go outside they will spawn day or night

It is only a coincidence it seems to be working, vampires can attack during the day. They can attack during the day soon as you enter the city. Just depends on what sort of attacks you are going to get and how high a rate of attacks.

Reminds me of the time that Horker's killed the two miner owners, and two miners.

It was a sad day for Nellis Nelsh :<

Hu... did I just find the problem they wanted to fix for PS release? Hell I can live with random NPC deaths. Going to end up killing them all anyways. when or if I ever beet all the DLC's.

I can attest to the attacks happening in bright daylight, mid-afternoon, and Dawnstar seems to be a haven for these attacks. I entered into the apothecary shop, again, mid-day, to sell off some potions after looting the Dawnstar loot chest, and upon leaving encountered a master vamp and two hell hounds attacking and killing more townspeople before I could get out my bow and take a shot. Took me a few reloads before I managed to kill the vamps without any local casualties.

Dunno, but it seems like these master vamps are a lot tougher than they need to be, especially on a bright sunlit afternoon.

maybe but since i started new character over moths ago and been following this rule not at single attack(before i started this i usually had bunch npc die do to vampire attacks) i also told my friend to try this like a week ago and no attack for him as well so far. even if there is a chance it can happen i would think its little bc i really play quite bit skyrim in my free time prob 100 hrs in with this character and well over 1000 over all, so had chance to experience much attacks when first started to play dg

This happened to me to. I had just come to Dawnstar and a hellhound ran at me from a bush, and the I saw a master vampire, but before I could kill them, two guards and the keeper of the apothecary shop was dead. And that svcked...

Question: all NPC:s that generate a quest, are they considered essential and can't be killed? `Cause I don't want to loose a quest!

They force you if you join Dawnguard, yes. You DONT have to play Dawnguard at all and get NO attacks. And whats wrong with getting the Dragon Scroll? I found nothing wrong with this.
