2 handers, anyone use?

Post » Sat Oct 13, 2012 12:51 pm

lets start out with this i love board and sword warrior a lot, but sometimes it svck doing so little dmg

so i want to go to 2hander and lvl it up a little, but it seems so boring and not fun

so my questions are

1- kill cams look cool?
2 - are they deadlier than duel wield?
3- how is in trouble situations (5+ mobs)
4 - anything else you can offer about going 2hander or stay with shield

do not say go duel wield i not it is crazy good, but it is to fast of killing for my liking

1. They look awesome indeed!
2. Dual Wield is more deadly.
3. Requires tactical approach, you don't want archers to spray you with arrows while melee cleaves you. Usually all about using Fus to stagger while you take one down, then kite/block a bit.
4. Unless you will go smithing, remain as shield on Master difficulty. Anything under Master without smithing is ok for two handed by my opinion.

1. Yes. You get decapitations and some strongman kill cams.

2. No.

3. It can be a problem if you don't pace your attacks right, keeping a little space between you and the enemy is a good part of avoiding becoming overwhelmed.

4. Give it a try-all play-styles are worth trying at least once, you may enjoy it and if you don't you don't lose anything.

1. Some of the kill cams look cool.

2. Not in my experience, although I find them more reliable than dual wield.

3. in situations of +5 mobs, I find myself relying heavily on my armor type since blocking seems a tad redundant. Decent damage though.

4. It is your preference, try em both. I like stonewalling the enemy with my shield as much as I like running up to light armor opponents and impaling them on my claymore.

1) Decapitation with a Warhammer is pretty damn sweet.

2) Slightly less effective when it comes to damage output, but naturally superior when it comes to defense.

3) I'd say there's nothing better than two-handed weapons when fighting groups due to the 'Sweep' perk.

4) Put some perks in Block for the Disarm perk! It's damn fun.

This. Two-handers are dangerous already but add in Power Bash/Deadly Bash/Disarming Bash and they have more tactical options plus as said its fun. That Bandit Chieftain or Draugr Deathlord is a lot easier to deal with without a weapon.

Two-handed is fun and with it your hit can reach enemy from longer range than with one-handed. this allows you instead of blocking to avoid enemys hit by stepping back.
Kill cams with 2-handed are cool indeed. Especially decapitating ones are more awesome than with one-handed. For kill cams and the feel of wielding I prefer to use battle-axes. Also the battle-axes limbsplitter perks makes them to be as deadly in damage as are the warhammers which are indeed slower to swing.
When you have many enemies on your skin sweep-perk becomes really useful allowing you to do a power-attack which damages all of them at front of you.
Two-handed + shouting is very good combination in anykind of battles.

For my personal opinion Two-Handed and One-Handed + shield are equal in effectiveness and fun. I despite using dual-wielding and I have found it to be the most boring way in melee - even one-handed + empty hand is more fun than that.

Killcams with two handed weapons are simply awesome.
Not deadlier then duel weld but you can block.
Mobs are easy as soon as you invest in the "sweep" perk. I've stepped backwards and did a sweep with my battle axe. killed 3 bandits

Your character looks bad ass swinging a large weapon. Some hammers are huge. Also keep in mind. Great sword swings faster then a battle axe. Battle axe swings faster then a warhammer. So choose which one you want to use before setting perks on say a warhammer when you'd rather use an axe, or a sword.

There is disagreement about this. Both the UESP and the old character development thread say there is a bug which makes the greatsword and axe swing at the same speed.

I have never used them but they look awesome, especially the kill cams. I have never created a pure warrior character in the Elder Scrolls, I just can't live without magic :(

1: Yes, I think they do. There is one with the warhammer/battleaxe I don't like too much, but it is nothing that breaks me off it.
2: Not necessarily, but it allows you to block.
3: There is a perk that allows two-handed users to attack multiple people at once with a sideways powerattack. Very useful when fighting mobs, even if it is a fairly high skill requirement.
4: Not really.

Yes, the longhammer is great, no question.
I haven't played too much with 2H so I guess I'll have to test the greatsword speed myself. The character development thread was very reliable about weapon specs but maybe the bug was patched in the latest update.
