So, it finally happened to me. My game save is 9,253 kb big, which translates to about 9 MB. My character is level 24 with roughly 40 hours of game play. For those who aren't aware, 9 megabytes seems to be the file size needed to start feeling the effects of the memory leak (give or take a few hundred kb). I am now experiencing the FPS drops, however, not as badly as those whose save file is well beyond 9 mb. The fps drops for me are bearable, for now. Worst case scenario, loading cities and towns struggles at the start. For example, upon entering Whiterun the game takes about 10 to 20 secs of stuttering. After that brief moment in time the game is performing at a considerate frame rate, with further halts here and there at random intervals.
Surely, my save file will grow with more game time, so I am trying to minimize my time in Skyrim. Until Bethesda figures out this memory leak problem, I can find other ways to use my time. I hope whatever information you take from my post, Bethesda, helps you (even in the slightest) slay this dragon of a problem.
Love,
An Adoring Fan
P.S.
Even though I personally believe that the issue has nothing to due with the type of ps3, i will give you my specs anyways. I have a 2 month old, 120 gigabyte ps3 slim.
