Happily proven wrong, An Elder Scrolls Fans Look on Skyrim

Frankly, it's like this: graphics, fantastical atmosphere created by the vistas and vastly improved combat system are the only things that Skyrim does better than Morrowind. But that's just because it's the only thing it -can- do better than Morrowind and that's enough, despite lacking in several parts too. From what I've heard about the storyline (not delved deep enough into any guilds yet) it is right back on the Morrowind track again.. just about every guild, apart from the thieves and DB had a bad to dismal storyline in Oblivion and the main quest was laughably bad compared to the beautiful epic of Morrowind. Where Skyrim wins for me is that I personally enjoyed the Bloodmoon expansion perhaps even more than most other parts of Morrowind and Skyrim seems to return to that vibe gloriously and in much-expanded form. Overall, I think some things about Morrowind will never be repeated but Skyrim is, thankfully, a very very good attempt at a complete return to form. Frankly, after the huge success of Oblivion, I didn't expect this, which makes it all the sweeter.

While this may be true, I've never ever been able to get into Fallouts, and this isnt a fallout game, its an Elder Scrolls.

My point was that it doesn't matter that Skyrim is a TES game as far as many of the points that you offered are concerned. Many of the points you mentioned are due to FO3's success and the overall evolution of the team's experience, including FO3 as the latest effort by them. Therefore, such elements that you love about Skyrim are due to FO3, which in turn was an evolution from Oblivion, and prior to that from Morrowind. Such points are not Oblivion -> Skyrim, but rather Oblivion -> FO3 -> Skyrim (and Morrowind first on both paths, of course).

Basically, from a game design standpoint, Skyrim IS a Fallout game. It is the next step in evolution by the same team that did Morrowind, Oblivion, and then FO 3. The next game from Beth will aalmost certainly be FO4, assuming FO4 is made at all.

Personally....

I think Skyrim is better for just a few reasons.

The world has been streamlined. In Morrowind. you could walk quite a distance before you saw something so interesting, catch your eye, that you had no choice but to break from the path and check it out.
In Skyrim, every time I turn a corner, my eyes are assaulted by amazing architecture.

Voice acting.
Every bit of dialogue has a voice to it (except books). This is the #1 reason why Skyrim takes the #1 spot.

So far there have only been a few RPG's that have voiced out most, if not all dialogue interactions.
