I'm happy with Bethesda

I've been reading these threads about how Bethesda is lame, lasy, incompetent, needs to be like other rpgs, and so on. I make a reply every so often, but usually stay quiet because I don't want to deal with the hassle of flaming.

But today I decided to take the plunge and say that I am happy with Bethesda. They have never let me down, and I've been happy with everyone of their products since Daggerfall. One thing that I always tell myself when I play Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and 4, is that "I love this game".

I thoroughly enjoy their TES games, and for me, they just keep getting better and better. Seriously, when they announce a game, preordering it is not an option, it's mandatory for me.

While I believe that nothing is perfect (especially not Bethesda games), they keep producing games that I enjoy putting hours into. As long as they keep doing that, I'm good with them. Also, it is good to see Beth getting a little competition in the RPG genre. Competition keeps things from stagnating. I just hope they don't change their games too much to try and compete.

What I find interesting is when the people complaining and insulting Beth and the devs actually admit they've played for dozens if not hundreds of hours before they discovered the game stinks.

If you've been playing for that long, your complaints lose a little something, all right?

Yes, there are bugs. Yes, they don't always fix the non-game-breaking ones. However they are apparently doing enough things right that people are playing the games for hundreds of hours, modding aspects they don't want or don't like and adding new material to the games. If the devs were lazy, incompetent, and all the other things that show up in rants, the games would be ignored and quickly forgotten because no one would be playing them.

Bethesda is my favorite game developer. In fact, Bethesda's games are the only video games I can play for more than, say, ten hours anymore. I have gradually stopped buying games by other game studios over the years.

Vvardenfell, Cyrodiil, the Capital Wasteland and Skyrim have been my virtual second homes for over 14 years now. No other developer makes the kind of game that satisfies my particular roleplaying needs like Bethesda.
