Anyone seen this yet? The main thing that grabbed me was obviously the setting, but also that it's PC exclusive singleplayer game.

The Witcher 2 is one of the best RPG's out right now. The developers did a great job of shying away from the stupid cliches prevalent in just about every other RPG out now. Based on that alone I'll probably check it out.

Ya, it seems most games these days, especially this year alone, has been saturated with FPS games. However I'll reserve judgement until I see some gameplay.

Just to clarify, its a new studio formed by people who worked for the studios which produced the games named in the topic title.

Plot or game-play? (No spoiler please, I've not played far into it yet. :))

So... Is the guy with the eye, who I think it is?

Both in equal amounts I'd say. The combat is incredibly fun and not nearly as clunky and annoying as it was in the first game. The story is top notch often throwing curve balls when you'd least expect it. Also the choices you make have a huge effect on which direction the game heads in. Literally two or three different games in one depending on which path you choose to take.

Edit: I can't believe I almost forgot this, but you should give the game a try on Insane for one of your playthroughs. Adds an entirely different level of complexity to the game as it forces you to consider every move before you make it.

What is dead may never die! Thread, rise! Mwahaha!

...

Anyway. I bought this during the Steam sale for $3.75, just started playing this. I've only played two levels, but very conflicted about it so far. On the one hand, (and there's no other way to say this) the gameplay is terrible. It's an old-school shooter in every way, with mindless critters that rush you, and a numbered health and shield meter, and guns that don't reload (also, no iron sights, and the 'scope' in game is just zooms you in). There's a reason why modern shooters don't do this anymore, and honestly it feels lazy. It's frustrating because the art design is freaking amazing. I actually svcked in a breath when I looked up and saw http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198053081900/screenshot/955013950631296357 sight. And the comic-style cutscenes are very cool too.

Okay, I bought this for less than four dollars, so I'm not that pissed. I am pretty disappointed, though. Anyone else played this game?

Now there's some thread necromancy...

Anyway. Back in my day, when dinosaurs ruled the earth, we had our numbered health and shield meters and unreloadable guns and we liked it that way. :P Seriously though--I have my problems with Hard Reset, such as the fact that switching between gun modes mid-fire fight is way too slow, the occasional BS-ness of some of the Zerg rushes, and most of all the fact that for all its "old school"-ness it relies entirely on checkpoint saves, which...no. Bad PC game. No biscuit. The numbered health/shield meters and the fact that guns don't reload and you can't regenerate your health are definitely not complaints of mine. IMHO regenerating health that relies on HUD blood splatter to "tell" you (and not very well) how close to death you are is far more lazy.

...Now find me someone I can order off my lawn. *waves cane*

You say that like it's a bad thing.

edit: I got & played it during last winter's Steam sale. Overall..... average, perhaps? I played through it, and it was reasonably fun. But I haven't been inspired to run it again to try out the new levels that got added in a recent patch.
