My thief had a hard time fighting all those mercenaries inside Black-Briar lodge, I wasn't expecting them all to have full sets of steel.

just traveling, trying out the baby dragons mod, after i kill them and start to loot, being weak and low magicka, potions, and stamina, relaxed and feeling great, then the 5 vampires show up. thank namira i had a firestorm scroll. still almost died and lost everything. the vamps normally wouldnt be bad, but they showed up at the worst time. LV 46 heavy armor battle-mage.

Morokei is still sitting in his tomb on Shearpint, that staff of his.... I scarpered after kiling the dragon and attempting to defeat Morokei ten times I gave up and snuck away. I do intend on going back and kicking his teeth out though :swear:

None. The only difficulties I've had, strangely, were mid-level - between 20 and 30. Somehow the game balance is such that you generally overpower weak enemies when you're low level, and overpower strong enemies when you're high level. It's the midrange where things can get dicey.

But other than that, I haven't had any really epic fights. Kind of a shame.

Even taking out the volkihar vampire lair at the end of DG was rather easy. I struck the killing blow on EVERY SINGLE ONE of the vamp baddies - the dawnguard casualties amounted to one frost troll. When I ran into the big boss volkihar guy, I simply turned him into a pincushion with my special bow and blessed arrows. I utterly Melvin'd him.

Even Alduin was my hockey puck.

I prefer a game be too easy rather than too hard. Nevertheless, the game balance is not quite right. Guess you can't have everything...

I had a similiar situation in one of my earlier playthroughs except it wasn't both at once and it was from the Deadly Dragons mod. They were basically in the same area and had I tried taking them both, I would never have won.. I only found out there was a second in the area when I stumbled too far near it fighting the first one.

Other fights that get tedious for me is when I'm fighting a lot of powerful enemies at once, then I have to play it carefully but sometimes I've retreated to approach the situation another way.

I have no clue why, but the first time you fight Alduin was probably the hardest enemy I ever fought in a game, that includes Jon Irenicus from Baldur's Gate 2! Something was obviously borked with my game: Alduins meteor storm always killed me with one hit, so if I did not use the 'Clear Skies' shout fast enough, I had to dodge incoming asteroids as that freaking dragon was further breathing fire and Fus ro Dahing me into Oblivion.

'The world eater' as it should be.

It took me several dozens of tries. Lowering the difficulty is for milk-drinkers.

Two legendary dragons, fire and frost I also stumbled into a imperial camp(which hated me) and ran into dawnstar(which hated me more).

Level 28, leather armour, ebony axe and zephyr, doing the ghosts for Mara, ancient dragon. Only survived, after four attempts with Animal Allegiance and mammoths, by getting it to fight two lots of mammoths and giants, running all the way to Silent Moon and taking pot-shots while it killed the bandits, then a few more arrows while it killed a bear. Even had to use Highborn to spam more Fast Healing. Dovakhiin wants her mummy.

The section of the black star quest where you have to fight the three dremora. Playing as a warrior or thief they are pushovers, however if you are playing a mage their habit of spamming wards makes it really hard if you have now prepared for it.

A week ago in Riverwood, me (a level 8 Battlemage) and three guards vs a Master Vampire and two Death Hounds. Just leaving Riverwood alive turned out to be a grand challenge, but keeping the civilian NPC's from dying... wheeesh! I do believe that Bethesda were a little overzealous with the vampire attacks in Dawnguard.

Stealth character ripped to shreds by Falmer and chaurus hunters. It was dark, and she couldn't get away. She used every scroll and potion. I still remember her lifeless body bouncing off the wall.

i didnt get an exact count but my poor argonian warrior Blue-scale woke up pretty much every last sleeping draugr in the lower reaches of forelhost i remember seeing about 4 or 5 draugr deathlords in the huge angry mob. before i liked blocking and shield bashing now im obsessed with using my shield as a weapon in of itself. in other words taking out a ticked off mob of what looked to be almost 25 draugr of varying levels of strength the strongest being a death overlord will turn you into a spartan warrior.

I was on a quest in a tomb. I found a really cool spot to snipe through some bars into another room. I was taking out draugh scourges and weakening draugh deathlords when I heard some chimes.... I had been watching to see if any came up the stairs and they hadn't yet. The chimes were my follower in the next room.... the chimes were in a tiny room with 4 tombs... all deathlords. So now my follower is in a tiny room with 4 deathlords, and the deathlords in the room I was shooting into hear the commotion so they all come running up the stairs. My follower dies and I see all the red dots coming to me. So I jumped on top of a chest in the corner of the room, used an invisibility potion and stayed as motionless as possible. I ended up with 3 deathlords within a few feet of me pacing around with several more right around the corner. Eventually I saw a hole and I sneak rolled to safety then dispatched them all in a long corridor with my bow. But being trapped in that room with them was not fun.

My biggest, scary moment, was in Oblivion. I was in a goblin den with my first character who wasn't made the best. I stumbled upon a large group(8+) of Goblins, and when running away I made a wrong turn. I ended up in this huge dark room with a big open space where there was a single light. I ran in and started sneaking... then stopped remaining perfectly still. I couldn't really see anything except a staff with a goblin head on it by the light. To check if the coast was clear I cast a flare spell towards the staff, and in the flash of the light I saw a goblin shaman about 10 feet away... which also saw me. It ran at me and stopped an inch from my face. It was really dark and I could 'hear' it breathing, and I knew it was close but I dare not move, and REALLY dare not casting a spell. A friend was watching and we were both transfixed on the darkness. I saw a pattern in the darkness... and realized it was the goblins eyes looking right at me... thankfully my sword found its throat before it noticed the similar pattern in front of it. Then I ran... and ran... and ran till I was safely in the gates of Bruma.

Actually, now I come to think of it, I had a weird moment on a character I never fast travelled with. I installed a mod that required me to travel to Riverwood and I was at the [censored] end of Skyrim so I decided "WTH I'll just fast travel there and back to pick up my tent." When I arrived however....

Everytime I FT'd there it would get worse.
