Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Discuss the movie in all here. Are you going to see it? Did you enjoy the first? What do you hope to see? Are you going to be sad now that it's over.

I'm pretty pumped for tonight, though I believe we already have an HP thread.

I am going to see it... although I don't know when, as I want to avoid crowds. I've watched every movie in the series and read every book in the series and honestly can't say I'll miss it. I've enjoyed it and I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie, but I've known the ending for a very long time, now (book), it's had a good run, and I could use a good, new movie series... one that isn't attached to a book series, as I hate knowing how a movie plays out before I actually watch it based on the book.

I always see the films with my youngest sister. But she's spent all of her pocket money so now we can't go. :( I'm gutted (huge HP fan). I'm really tempted to pay for her to go, but she's supposed to be learning how to manage her money so I doubt that would be appreciated by our Mum. I know a lot of people weren't happy with Part 1, but considering what was in the book (basically them walking and whining) I think they did a really good job.

I wonder if they will include the epilogue though? To be honest, I really didn't like that epilogue.

As much as I love the books I really hope JK doesn't write another one just to eke out the franchise - although if it was one revolving around the Marauders of Dumbledore's early life that would be cool.

I'm one of the people who tend to think the movies are an abomination and a slap in the face.

Honestly if someone who hasn't read the books decided to see the movies first, I don't think they would have a chance in hell at understanding what was going on and why.

I don't think I'll watch the movie unless my friends say the battle scenes are amazing and partially true to the book
Spoiler
I wouldn't mind a more visually appealing duel between Harry and Voldemort... the last duel they had was one of the most anti-climactic things I've ever witnessed. Expelliarmus? Really?

And even then, I'll only watch it if one of my friends owns a copy and lets me borrow it.

What do you mean by "it's not over"? you think she's actually gonna continue the series somehow? I think that's quite a misunderstanding of what she said.

I disagree. I think I started reading the books when I was 10 or so and by then I'm guessing the 3rd movie was about to come out and I think I already understood everything (or almost everything atleast)

I just saw it. I was AMAZING imo. Definitely a worthy ending of the series. There's a lot I can say about how good this movie was but I'm not going to. You're just going to have to see for yourself.:P Personally, I do think it's a movie you have to see on the big screen at least once, because the action and special effects are top-notch! Aaaaand, I have to say that the movie version of the final battle between Voldemort and Harry was way better than the original book version, and it's not often a movie scene is better than the original book scene.

Spoiler
Book scene: they face off in the Great Hall, circle each other while hissing at each other in parceltongue, throw a couple of spells and tada, Voldy dies.
Movie scene: Voldemort chases Harry through the castle, flinging spells and hexes at each otherand ducking away, Voldy beating Harry up, Harry tumbling them both off a cliff, both struggling in mid-air, crashing through walls with finally an epic in-the-words-of-Tobuscus Wizard Lightning Battle. AWESOME.

I think I forgot to breath for a few seconds during thay scene, it was spectaculair! IMO though. :P

Gonna see it again tomorrow, and maybe again next week.

I'm so excited to see this movie, unfortunately I was out of town last week and wasn't able to purchase tickets early enough for the midnight showing, so they are all sold out now. I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to go see it. I haven't read the book, but from the trailer I saw, it looks to be pretty amazing.

I've seen all the movies, never read any of the books, and I never plan to. I was going to see it tomorrow with my friend, but she refuses to pay for me.

I hope to see it in the theater, but I won't be upset if I don't. I haven't seen any of the others in theater, so, whatever. I do like the series though.

I saw the PS/SS first, with a nephew and the kids. Then the kids wanted to see the COS as a birthday celebration for the daughter. They were around kindergarten /first grade age. So I bought them the first two books, and of course they wanted the third book when it came out.
So I bought that, then read it, and it amused me greatly. I then backtracked and read the original and the second. The first two movies were predictable, IMO. After the POA, I could get into it. It seemed more real, more things don't always have a happy ending, it was darker.
Since the second movie, it has been a traditon in our household to go see the current movie. I insist the book be read first, however.
We all know how it's going to end round my house, seeing it onscreen will be make it final. Actually have a meetup to view it with friends, and kids friends, and kid's friends parents, we are such nerds. :P

I also preferred the books to the movies. POA and OOP were my favorite books.

I haven't seen one of the movies since the Chamber of Secrets and I haven't read Deathly Hallows yet anyway. So I won't see it.

Really? I haven't read any of the books past the third and haven't seen the last film yet, but

Spoiler
I was under the impression that there was this ending where Harry dies in a dramatic self sacrifice to safe the world to make the story seem all dark and mature, but besides Harry the only characters that die are the Red Shirts and after the whole thing's done Harry's resurrected so there can be the happy ending with rainbows and flowers where everyone marries everyone so they can have a bunch of children and live happily ever after.

I haven't watched either of these two films, I'm waiting for them to make a Blue-Ray HP:atDH Parts 1 & 2 then I'll watch it. No since in buying the same film twice (even though they're different parts of the story).

Ditto. One word: Scorpius. Seriously? [censored] Scorpius? Only sheer willpower kept me from spitting Sunkist all over the page.

Edit: Oh yeah, and Dumbledore. Dumbledore? Dude, just...ugh. That epilogue felt like a bad fanfiction.

I'm planning on getting whatever Harry Potter Blu-Ray super-set they'll inevitably release in a year or so.

I saw it this afternoon, it was good but a little bit disappointing in my opinion. One bit I felt could have been done much better, and I hated the epilogue as ever. When the book came out, I stayed up all night reading it and then the "19 Years Later" was just so cheesy, and seriously, "Scorpius?" Other than that, the film was really good and a great ending to the series. I will always prefer the books though.
