Harry Potter Easter egg in whiterun

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 4:15 pm

One time, I was just walking around whiterun when i saw a symbol looking remarkably similar to the deathly hallows symbol in the last harry potter. It is located right beside the companions hq, in the right side of the wooden entry way. Once you find it, stare at it for a few minutes and it will play some harry potter music. I've also heard that there are many other symbols in the game , but they do stand for something. However that does not change the fact about the harry potter music.

You're probably talking about the symbols left by the thieves guild, and you're imagining the harry potter music.

no seriously i jut heard it, it was really slow and skyrim sounding though. I know its a symbol of the theives guild, but dont you think since the symbols are so similar the easter egg is reasonable?

Think I'd probably respect Bethesda quite a bit less for referencing anything from that prepubascent garbage.

Ah. You're confusing 'easter egg' with the existence of generic fantasy music. Since you were born in 1995 I'll give you a break.

You're quite possibly the first person I've met who actually hate the books. Most people around my area either don't care about it or love it.

Harry Potter... well the books are great, the movies... not so much.

1st kid: OMG another spin-off. They have even made Harry Potter books now.
2nd kid: *facepalm*

Books usually don't have a soundtrack, so he was probably talking about the movies.

My next invention is books that have soundtracks. Like thos children's books you used to get in the 80's that would play sounds when you opened them. I can imagine with today's tech there could be a full sountrack installed. /patents it.

I'm going to Jorvaskr and there better be Harry Potter music when I look at the symbol, or I'm going to be upset and... whine, or something.

excuse me? that was extremely unnecessary and insulting.

harry potter is extremely popular... more popular than you could imagine.

its one of the greatest fantasy worlds in existence, alongside the lord of the rings.

rowling is a VERY respectable author and her series is highly respected, as well.

the series deals with quite alot of mature topics, theres nothing "prepubascent" about it.

if you want something really bad, look at stephanie meyer's twilight series... that may be popular, but its fanbase consists of people who either think its so terribly bad that its incredibly funny to read and make fun of, or teenage girls, and even some boys, who take it as seriously as meyer... who, by the way, actually threatened to leave her husband if her characters show up at her door one day... just to give you a taste of her mental stability.

The Deathly Hallows symbol isn't even originally from Harry Potter so it's entirely possible that some Bethesda dev is just a fan of symbology

Uhm... ooookay. This thread got quite de-railed. OP, I think you may be confusing generic fantasy type music with thinking of the HP soundtrack. I also think Exo is probably quite right in his statement above.

Lastly, and this is also off topic, just a general observation - if a person likes a series a lot, then just be happy with it and be thick-skinned if someone throws in a careless "it suxxorz" type post. It's not a critique, people say negative stuff all the time, for many reasons. Perhaps they do really think the series is crap. Or perhaps its the typical knee-jerk "everybody likes this, so I think it will look cooler if I sneer at it" type of conformity, or because this is the internet, people toss around random opinions, good, bad or indifferent, every day. JK Rowling is a skajillionaire, I don't think she's too worried if some people hate her books. :)

But since the thread seems to have gotten quite derailed, I am going to lock it. OP, if it does turn out to be a clever easter egg, I will tip my hat to you. :)
