I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 yesterday. Before hand I had backed up all my saved games and game files through Steam. I then spent 12 hours trying to reinstall them. It ended with Steam crashing, failing to launch, having to be uninstalled, reinstallation failed due to their still being things in the directory. Then the directory needed to be deleted and everything had to be reinstalled. Minus all of my mods.

So, what is the actual point of backing them up and then reinstalling them? Has anyone actually ever gotten it to work or am I just an idiot?
