Has Bethesda ever mentioned how much DLC will be for Skyrim?

Post » Sat Oct 27, 2012 11:16 am

I'm really hoping that these three dlcs (Dg,HF, and the rumored one ) are not the only three they're going to make. Fallout NV and 3 had more, as did Oblivion.

The more, the better? As long as it's a fair price

Lots of rumors, first thought was similar to fallout 3: 6 DLC, larger than Oblivion DLC but smaller than SI who was an large expansion.
Later they changed it to fewer but larger dlc, then came Dawnguard who is like an Fallout 3 DLC, followed by the small Heartfire, and the next one who sounds large.

Why are you hoping that this is all we'll get? Idle curiosity.

There's plenty of avenues to explore in DLC as it pertains to Skyrim (Like Orsinium for example), so I hope that they'll continue to support the game with new content for a while yet.

Wow, that's a typo that is completely contradictory to my reason of making this thread

None of us are developers, so none of us know, the developers themselves may not even have decided a final number yet.

Dawnguard's size was decent. I bet it is counted as a "larger" one by Beth and you can not really blame them for it.

To be fair, i do need to see this next DLC in order to judge how big it was.

It's small compared to Shivering Isles for Oblivion, but rather big compared to Knights of the Nine.

I am.

But its hard to say. I think that Dawnguard, NotN, and most of the FO dlc were the same size. Fallouthad 4 decent sized DLC, and one big one, broken steel. Nothing was as small as Heartfire though.

I wouldn't mind if they had a few more DG sized DLCs, but for The Elder Scrolls thereshould be at least otwo large dlcs I think. Oblivion had a lot of house DLC, some quests, NotN, and the Huge DLC of SI. I think that can easily count as two large DLCs.

Dawnguard is a tipical 1st add-on for a tes game from Morowind times. Is like an enchanded edition of existing territories. Many small things added (new sprigggan hight level, new dragons hight level, boat fast travel, more dungeon, new dwemer forge quest ecc.) and a new complete questline related anyway with the existing territory. even in the lore, the vampire clan volkinar is very important but was not present in skyrim vanilla.

Dawnguard/Knights of the Nine (retail edition)/ Tribunal are one kind of add-on (dlc), enhanced the existing territories with some land addition.

Bloodmoon(solstheim)/Shivering island (sheogorad plane)/Dragonborn (solstheim 201 4E) are another kind of add-on, with completely new territories.

Oblivion only had 2 fully released, and skyrim has not fully released any dlc yet unless you consider horse combat, kill cams, and bug patches as dlc

Taking into account the amount of DLC Oblivion got, I would say that we have a few more DLC packages to go. Hopefully the next one (Dragonborn?) will be large enough to compare to the Shivering Isles. However, DLC is pointless if there is a poorly written backstory behind it, so I am willing to have fewer come out if that means that they are better.

Well if they take out at least 3 or 4 more DLCs apart the upcoming Dragonborn I would be fine ...

I get the feeling DLC is almost going down the Oblivion route. DG was more or less the equivalent of KOTN (Dawnguard is better IMO), Hearthfire is somewhat similar to the smaller plug-ins for Oblivion (not horse armour obviously), so hopefully the next DLC will be a meatier chunk.

I think there will be one average sized DLC add-on after Dragonborn expansion, and maybe another small add on.
