Hats off to Bethesda...Well done

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 7:29 am

I've been playing The Elder Scrolls since Daggerfall and loved them all, A week into Skyrim and all I can say is WOW, what an amazing game. With expansions and mods I can see myself playing this for a very very long time. I have read through quite a few negative posts and cannot see what people's problem is, this is quite simply the best game since Oblivion. I play only on PC, do not own a console and the game runs smooth as silk on Ultra on my AMD2 x2 260 3.2Ghz, Radeon HD 6770, 4 Gig ram, no crashes, no stutters no nothing. Its much more stable and optimised than Oblivion was on release day. Sure the UI could of been better and I'm sure it will be via patches, mods, but it doesn't take long to get used to it and I can quite happily live with it until its improved upon, would like to be able to hot key duel wielding but hey 2 small gripes about such a massive near perfect game. Bethesda have done us proud, its a wonderful achievement that will only get better. Congratulations Bethesda!

Same here,I play on Console though so I cant get anything like fancy graphics but the console graphics are good enough for me and wow, this game is literally perfect (to me) It has EVERYTHING the fantasy genre has to offer. Shamans,Warriors,Magic,Mages,Knights,Castles,Dragons,Vampires,Mammoths,Roman stuff, some Norse mythology,Theives,Stealth,Archery,Armor,Taverns,EVERYTHING.

I could go on and on forever.

While I think some of the complaints are justified, it's still an incredible game. :) I don't think any fan of the series can claim that it's outright bad.

I totally agree, what I love is the diversity of the game. As in, it has everything for the casual gamer who may have only started the TES seriers and also everything for those who dwell deaper, behind the basics.
For an example, there was this castle that i could've run through and it would've been really fun, or I could take time to read the notes left behind and understand the history of the castle (in this case it was abandoned because of the fear it may get destroyed and it ordered all the guards to get out but the prisoners had to stay) and understand why there where ghosts here and who they were, which would have also been really fun!
It has something for everyone! :D

Well, they can if they just don't like it. Opinion and all that.

Bethesda is in search of the perfect gaming experience. Each game since Daggerfall may have came with things
we might have originally agreed or disagreed with....(i.e. star wars 1 thru 3 lol) but if you look at Daggerfall, Morrowind,
Oblivion & Skyrim you see that by giving the community a chance to easily create mods for the game they have opened
up a perfect system for game improvement... its so simple as long as they are receptive to improvement Bethesda hopefully
will continue with their improvement of tamriel in each episode they give us.. Skyrim so far is the best Elder Scrolls game ever.
Period.. You can argue over what each games launch and game problems in general but its obvious to me that they listened to
the mod community on this one... the only thing that could be better is Tamriel Online(hint, hint ;)

They might not like it (which is unlikely if they're already a fan of the series), but I don't think they can argue that it's a bad game. A flawed game perhaps, but not a bad one.

Name a better RPG created in the last 3 years that has this much depth and freedom.

On the Dragon age 2 comment, I totally agree, DA 1 was good but they totally messed up DA2, Bethesda have remained consistant with The Elder Scrolls series. Skyrim is completely awesome. On a side note, i've looked at the few mods that are available at the moment, improved snow, tree textures etc and to be honest I think Bethesda's out of the box content is better, the tree's and snow for example look stunning to me. I am also still stunned how well Skyrim runs with such amazing graphics!

This in my opinion has been the least buggy/glitchy bethesda game I have played.

Skyrim is just my favorite from now on... I can't even think of going back to Oblivion anymore...

My only problem is the framerate problems in cities and the occasional shadow bugs.. but well, they'll probably fix what they can.

You know you've played too much, when you wake up in a cold sweat, looking for your armor and weapons. Nuff said. :banghead:

Game is awesome and i can't wait til they release the CK and the awesome (Which i am confident they'll be) mods starts rolling in.
