I have recently moved into my van

Post » Fri May 10, 2013 4:15 am

I sold everything i owned expect the land i own and moved into my van. I want to know what is a way to make my van a little more private, once a week i wake up to cops knocking on my window wondering what I am doing, what would be advisable to do?

Put blinds up, maybe buy an apartment or a house.

Tell the cops in area where its parked your situation, expected time frame for the situation, and thank them for checking up on you....even if you don't think thats what they are doing.

Where exactly is this land at? If you live in the middle of nowhere like I do, cops aren't really a problem, the only cops we get are state troopers watching the highway. You could try putting some permanent structure around you van, like a car port or permanent awning so it looks more like a garage instead of a van just sitting around.

ha I hear you. No offense silver but that was a stupid move to sell your house unless you sold it for a crazy profit and are in the process of buying better.
As for parking your van, if it's on private property then cops can't legally bother you and you should file an official complaint

edit: sorry to hear that silver...that's horrible but you shouldn't ruin your life because she ended hers. I can understand why you wouldn't want to stay in that house anymore but you have to stay strong and smart

Oh. Well no wonder the cops are checking up on you! Have you tried just living on you old land? I'm assuming you held onto the house and are just renting it out correct? If so, you could just park your van around back or in your garage if you have one.

That's a pretty good deal, I'd suggest just buying a smaller place or just somewhere to store your van.

This is disturbing, and probably a sad story attached to. Maybe not the best place here in a gaming forum.

Get one of those cheap plastic picket fences and put it around your van.

I'm sorry for your loss.

As for privacy you could try and put up a sign that says "I'm asleep, please don't disturb" on the window.

Silver, I'm sorry I freaked. I've retracted my previous statements and again. I'm sorry for your loss. I honestly have nothing to add as to creating privacy with your van. I'm so sorry.

there's no such thing as privacy in public, depending on local laws and where you park, the cops generally have every right to tell you to move your van as does the owner of the property you park on. I used to get harrassed when I would pass out drunk in my car but the cops were cool about it because I wasn't driving and the keys weren't in the ignition...if the keys were in I would get a DUI in a heartbeat
