Have you ever cheated?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 1:50 am

Title. I will say that i did a few times - to get out of "stuck" moments, to get gold after a bug or to resurrect a companion. I also once cheated through the "claw" door - did not knew how to open those, spent 15 mins doing trial/error and dying to draugr overlord after. My save was before that door, and i forgot combination...... so i just nocliped through. Also used godmode when killing that same draugr overlord since he just oneshot me with his bow.

Yup, to revive Lydia after which i made her stop following me and grabbed a new hench i don't care if i lose or not. As well as no clipping through the door in that saar place for the college quest since the game froze every time i used a spell on the door and someone here on the forums mentioned the noclip behind it and use a spell behind it. (which worked by the way)

I had to use the "moveto player" command to stop Lydia from retardely trying to get to some mages behind a "barred from the other side" door. The mages were able to hit what of her was sticking through, and neither she nor they would give it up.

Used player.moveto to find Tolfidr after looking for him for half an hour.
Used TCL to get out of a rock
Used TGM to check if companion fell off a cliff.

Used TFC lots of times to take pics of my character, and I used the "give gold" cheat once so I could roleplay selling my horse.

I boosted my runspeed and jump height slightly using console. I wouldn't necessarily call that cheating though. It just makes travel and exploration a bit less cumbersome. The added jump height in particular gives me a bit more freedom when going up mountains, so I don't feel like i'm constantly being forced to stick to set paths by invisible walls.

Aside from that, no.

Not in the conventional sense, but to get by the caller boss fight I basically just kept summoning a flame atronarch on top of her and running away until she eventually died. Every time she aggroed onto me I just hid behind my fire atronarch until she turned focus onto it.

I didn't feel particularly heroic winning like that but that fight svcks on master if your plan is to melee her down with your not-yet-well-developed dual weilding skills.

I put my difficulty down from adept to novice when fighting dragons or large groups of enemies....

I used TCL twice when i came across an obstacle i should have easily been able to get past, but the game didn't let me.

I haven't cheated in giving myself money, items or resurrecting people but I have used no-clip and out of body camera view.

Ive gotten trapped into a couple of boss battles or scenarios that were simply impossible, and used the "kill" command to sort them out.

Was walking in the mountains and passed a fort, and a "Master Conjurer" spotted me from a mile away and ran out and vaporized me with her seemingly unlimited volume of magicka, so I "[censored] that'd" and killed her with the mighty console, Im the only dovakhiin round these parts!

I have used "resurrect" on Lydia countless times as she seems to be a Fireball magnet.

Yes. I had a bounty mission from the Steward in Riften to kill a dragon, it crashed and fell off the mountain to a spot I could not possibly reach on foot without dying (Believe me, I tried, died 7 times), so I had to use tcl to go fetch my dragon soul. Other than that, no.

Minor spoilers:

I used TGM to get through that blasted 3 stone puzzle when you go to recover the artifact for the Greybeards.. only way I could do it was to whirlwind sprint 2 times in a row.

I routinely use TCL as a shortcut. Example. I can see a place is almost reachable by jumping. I try two or three times and fail to make it. Then I use TCL to see if anything was there anyway. That's the limit of my cheating.

I suppose technically I do, even if all I use the console for is saving (kinda OCD about having my saves organized) and getting myself out of being stuck behind terrain I inevitably manage to wedge myself into when I'm climbing things I probably ought not be climbing.

Haven't needed to yet... if the game glitches out on me, it just CTDs. I'm a stealthy archer type, so I don't take companions, and since I tend to run to destinations as the crow flies, I avoid a lot of the bizarro attacks that happen on roads. Instead, I happen upon people from an unexpected direction and get the sneak shot on them before they even know what happened.

I'm sure I'm going to need to use it before too long, though. I'm already starting to run into adept mages and they are just frying/freezing/shocking the everloving [censored] out of me.

3 stone puzzle is easy.. snake, snake, fish.. the clue is above the door.. in the stone head's mouths.

Yes, I have cheated lots of times, as I like feeling uber powerful, and able to destroy anything. I gave my character all the dragon shouts, and set their cooldowns to instantaneous, as well as boosting my stamina and magicka to 999999, and boosted my skills to around 85-90.

Only to unlock stuff. While I do like Skyrim's lockpicking system MUCH better than Oblivion's, I do get tired of doing it sometimes. With various spells and things, not to mention magical maces, unlocking things is not a game I want to play so often.

Oh, and I did once resurrect my horse because he died accidentally. Now I want to be rid of him though, since I've learned that horses are practically useless in-game.

The most I've ever done is toggled collision if I'm on the other side of a mountain than where I'm supposed to be so I can just walk right through it :D
I may be lazy, but atleast I get there faster.

Had to advance the quest stage for a certain quest that wouldn't accept that I had grabbed the briar heart from the target.
