Having any issues with 1.4

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 12:18 am

Yes im having issues with newest patch. Couldnt care less of the random glitches/bugs etc. What I do care of is the framerate. The fps drops just ruins the game for me. Would it be too much to ask that the fps would be capped to 30? Im sure bethesda could fix this. True that the sudden fps drop are now less frequent after the patch, but the general fps is still poor. Most annoying is when you fight against dragons and spellcasters (or anything that doesnt fight only melee). It gets hard to survive with the massive fps drops on fights, and thats why I only play on adept difficulty. Also places like Ragged Flagon, The Cistern and Bloodlet Throne are really eating fps.

Do not expect every bug to be fixed. Even some serious bugs. Bethesda has a horrible history with the ps3.

Look at the first line of this article and remember this bug was not fixed with the recent 5th anniversary edition of oblivion:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Vampire_Cure#PS3_GotY_Vampirism_Cure_Notes

This is only a ps3 problem of course.

So if you become a vampire you can't cure yourself. You'll be stuck as a vampire the rest of the game unless you do a work around which involves switching a goty disc with a regular disc then re-inserting the goty disc. This bug has been

around since the goty release.

btw, the site the link will carry you to is a fantastic resource for all things elder scrolls.

yea its a horrid bug also note if you do the work around but have started shivering isles youll end up wipeing all your progress and having to redo it however it causes allt he quests you had allready done to bug out in really bad ways one of which it compleatly breaks making it impossible to go further,
also uesp says its also an Xbox issue as well as a PS3 issue i remember looking cause both me and my partner were playing oblivion recently and he asked about vamparism and how to cure it
i was quite appauled they didnt fix this in the 5th year annaversary edition as i went and got that seeing as i couldnt find the GOTY edition used and i only had the original so got rid of the original for 5th year (i really wanted shivering isles and you cant get it on the playstation store also its cheaper just to rebuy the game used as shivering isles on xbox is still more expensive then oblivion GOTY edition brand new)
on the note of that 5th year i feel cheated really i see it as just a money grabbing scheme by them really it was no different to GOTY appart from they put a DVD and map in the box with it and not a very good map at that, no trophy support, no bug fixes, nothing special added to it nothing

I've abandoned the PS3 version. I had spent 120 hours on getting a really good character, probably at least 5 hours of that on loading screens lol, and then came 1.4. It fixed the lag, but my game was randomly crashing every few hours. I'd had enough. I went and bought the PC version today and OMG, 2 second loading times and no annoying glitches so far. Unfortunately I gotta start from scratch though :(

I expect I'm not the only person to have done this.

Absolutely, I'll wait for the GOTY edition though, with ALL DLC included, after it's price drops, and have access to the community made patches that will fix what Bugthesda likely never will. Has anyone even looked at the amount of bugs they have listed on the PC forum? It's HUGE, and likely most of that will end up being fixed by the community as time goes on...or least a good part of them.

I got horrible FPS last night in Frostmere Crypt - there's an underground forest with a Gray Lady....in that area there's alot of fog (particle effects) over the water areas that caused my PS3 fps to drop to around 10fps as an estimate. A bit of a slide show.

although i agree its better to own the pc version of any TES game, does anyone really think buying a game that wasnt made properly TWICE is a good idea? bloating thier sales numbers on a botch job like this is sooooo not the way to go. i think if u spent $70 on a console version u have the right to pirate a working (eventually i guess) copy for the pc. its hardly stealing when they robbed u first, your just taking what u already payed for (and didnt get) from them...

and the uespwiki has almost as much bug info as normal game info, what a joke. at the very least those bugs should be fixed in the next patch. there all right there in plain sight and only lasiness is stopping them fixing them.

i bet the have a ten to one ratio of people working on dlc as opposed to fixing the [censored] game!

framerate issues came back with some bad vengence after my 11 hour play session yesterday
also i dunno where to report this or to even make a new thread as its such a wierd glitch it made me laugh and i even got a photo of it cause it was like um wtf
but i went around getting the thanes of all the holds and i went back home to check the things you get for being a thane so i could see if i had all 9 to find one of the thane weapons names has changed from axe of (i cant remember what hold unfortunately) to axe of (i so hope this site doesnt support HTML)
unfortunately like i said i dont remember what hold i got this weapon for but to me that looks like some sort of code for the name and its stuck like that now it is a permanent thing tried reloading loads even had the PS3 turned off and back on nothing and this is only since 1.4

I've had only a few problems like some items look all black, Like I can't see the detail in the item. For example the ebony blade is so black you can't see the insignia, also the iron shield looks dark.
The other problem I noticed is I can't see my Gold inthe inventory not that its a big deal but Just putting it out there. Last thing is A Ancient Dragon came after me he looked like a ghosty figure. Thats about the only problems I've noticed.

Well for some strange reason the items are not black anymore lol smh*

Having some rather wicked texture pop-in now while wandering around the world map. I realize that trees and other items further away will do that; I'm talking about snow and rocks right at my character's feet that take several seconds to properly manifest. Still, I'm about 20 hours into my restart (6MB) and that's about it, except for the weird invisible shield glitch.

I just want to emphasize to you all that all broken quests, etc. will stay broken no matter the patch. This is because that data is stored in your save file, and Bethesda cannot get into every individual, unique save file to fix them.

Uhm ... at least my "White Phial" quest or what it's called in English worked after the patch, so ...

As I said in the other thread, now I have unkillable dragons skeletons, sadly also linked to quests. (Minor, but still annoying.) Another thing I noticed is that a lot of sounds, mostly from enemies, are played with a very noticable delay.

Until now I really love Skyrim. Without all the mistakes it would be a god under the RPG sun. But right now it is disappointing me more and more because Big B. is not able to get this thing to work.

Problems I encountered during my time in the Game since Patch 1.4:

> Looks like the abilities improve as fast as it was at the beginning. Even though the ability points are like they where before the patch.

> Why does the chance of pickpocketing drop when I put on a ring or something else that should improve the chance? For e.: Befor I put on a ring that rises the possibility of pickpocketing by 20 %, the chance of pickpocket a thing is at the value 10 %. When I put on the ring, the chance drops to 5 %.

> I'm not sure, because there is no statistic value where I can look this up, but I think the same thing happens when you carry an enchanted ring or armor piece that increases you sneaking ability.

At least one last add: Please fix bugs like this, or I'm definitely never going to buy one of your games again. And that would be a real pain in the ***** for me, because your games were great so far :(

a little less lag, a dozen bug and quests mended. but they need at least 2 more patches to get this thing at least sorta finished in my eyes. every 3-4 hours it still freezes/locks up though and that is horrible and can damage your system.

I just think or is it hope, that they released this patch to make the game a bit more playable. But that they are still working on a bigger patch that fixes everything.

I read/watch something the other day that they wanted to go all out with Skyrim. Even for the DLC, or potential DLC. They made a showcase of way they wished they could to/add to Skyrim. Gobblins, spears, bullettime for magic & arrows hit's. Or something like that.

For me, it seems the game runs over-all more sluggishly. Like the air is somehow thicker now and requires more effort to move through (not a delay in control response though). That's the only thing I felt was added with the 1.4 patch as far as problems as it compounds on the situation when you're in heavily forested areas. Also amplifies the lag stutters (only by a little) when the game is loading npc's.

Got my first freeze since installing patch 1.4. I went to Riften for the first time, walked into the tavern and watched some religious dude give a speech and as he was being talked to by an argonian the screen froze, while music/dialogue still played. Had to shut off the PS3.

Riften is also a horrible lagfest. Embarrassing Bethesda, just embarrassing.

I've seen this elsewhere on the forums, and possibly even further back in this thread...

...had an issue last night with a complete loss of audio when I loaded a save file in Windhelm. No sound effects, no music, nothing at all. I shut down my PS3 and restarted and it didn't have any problems after that.

Maybe try light armor?

Bottom line is I don't think any prepatch save file is gonna play as stable as you want them to. Start from scratch. Proove us wrong.
It's been gone over and over if you search the forum since patch 1.2, so it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. My restart is going great. More like what I expexted to see at release.

If you haven't noticed though, many many many people DID start a new game after the patch. I mean that's what was recommended to us, plus the patch didn't retroactively fix enough stuff anyways. So with all the broken aspects of this game still in effect post 1.4, I think quite a large number of players did in fact start a new game. So when you say "prove us wrong", I don't quite get what you are not seeing. Bethesda themselves said there will be more patches (yes, they said plural as in more than one). I myself ALSO started a new game, and yet other than the quest fixes and minor bug fixes, the game still lags and freezes quite a bit (9 hard lockups since 1.4 in my new game as of this writing). Plus there are numerous more glitches/bug/quest bugs as well as other things like bugs that can occur in the menus, button responsiveness, or game mechanics that still need to be addressed. Better yes, but needs to be "finished" more. I am just glad we got some of those quest fixes, and that lag HAS gone down a little bit over all. The thing with textures not always loading in is also REALLY getting on my nerves now, and makes a lot of stuff in the game look like a blurry mess, and the only way to get it to load in all the way usually, is to restart the game, and hope that the textures that are blurry THIS time, aren't the ones that your looking at so much.

I didn't just start a new game but rather wiped all of Skyrim's data from the HDD (install/patch/save), rebuilt the database, and started completely anew on 1.4 with autosaves disabled per usual = the severe framerate issues still crept right back in after a week or so of playing.

I just started a new game, just to be sure.

My first save, I backup so if there is a new update I can see what happens. But for now the game plays well. I'm just wondering if I get the blood on the ice quest this time.
