I downloaded the patch, installed the game data, and went on to start the game, but the game freezes immediately after the Bethesda Softworks logo comes up. All that's on my screen is the Skyrim logo left of center. There's no text or anything, just the Skyrim logo.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling the patch and game data. I've tried disconnecting my PS3 from the internet and installing just the game data itself and nothing. It's always at the same exact spot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same here. This makes me so f'ing mad! $88 on game and guide and I can't play it. I did the uninstall update, reboot the game without the update and it still locks in the same place as you. Back to arkham.

I had the same problem, I left the patch installed and deleted the game data. When I started it up again reinstalling the game data it worked. Try deleting just the game data and not the patch.

I'm having the same exact problem. There's no way Bethesda could not notice such a thing if they even bothered testing their games for bugs....

So you don't see Press Start, New Game, anything like that on the right side? What model PS3s are you playing on?

I installed the game and patch and the game wouldn't start properly.

So I deleted both, reinstalled the game but NOT the patch. And then the game started fine.

I could only see the logo, no smoke or icons. I did the same. Deleted both the update and install data. I looked at the game data after the 1st install and it was only 2.5 gig. I installed the patch first. I wonder if that had anything to do with it. The 2nd time it went to 4.36gig, which is what's on the back of the box. After that the game worked fine. I haven't reinstalled the patch.

I'm playing on a fat 80 GB model. And no. Nothing on the right side. Just the Skyrim logo left of center on the screen.

Also, just checked to see the install size. It's only at 2.6 GB. Not sure if this affects anything.

This is what I did. Thank you man. I'm late to the party, but I'm ready to go.

I have the old 80 GB model PS3. After starting a "new game" I was getting only one "tip" in the load screen (you should get 2 or possibly 3), then I would get a split second view of my character dying, then I was taken back to the initial start up screen to "start a new game". Rinse, lather, repeat.

I left the patch installed, deleted the game data and then reinstalled it. I'm now playing one of the most awesomest games EV.AR.
