I recently bought a house in Whiterun. For those of you who own a house as well you know about the house decorating guide right? It says that in order to upgrade my house I must talk to the Steward of the hold. The problem is, every time I talk to him, I have no options for asking for an upgrade towards my house. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

They are referred to as "Decorations", so you may have glazed over it. Also, I'm fairly certain you have to visit your house at least once before purchasing the decorations.

I had to visit my house TWICE before Proventus (Steward of Whiterun) gave me the dialogue option to Decorate.

I think it was because Lydia had to travel to Breezehome. That was the only thing that changed/happened after I visited my house the first time.

I'm curious about the Fire Pit in the Living Room. I upgraded the Living Room but there's no fire and it's dark (scary!). Maybe I have to Decorate/Upgrade the ENTIRE house with Decorations?

Or maybe it only lights at night after a certain time. I just bought it, decorated the Living Room and Bedroom, and turned off the game.

I have found that if the steward is out on the balcony he doesn't give any conversation options for buying furnishings or decorations. He only seems to have those options when he is inside the keep. It can be a bit frustrating waiting for him to go back inside just to buy some stuff from him.
