Health regeneration

First of all thank you bethesda WHAT A GAME!!! luuv it and no complaints.

Just wondering though can Health regereration be switched off, i like to utilise cooking food etc a bit more and having Health regernerating really makes all these crafts obsolete in my humble opinion...i would really have loved a hardcoe mode like in fallout.
(and please dont respond with negative remarks like 'this aint fall out' etc, hardcoe mode with food, and cold would have made this awesome game even more awesome because then cooking/hunting starting fires etc would be EXTREMELY relevent like it would in real life when one is trudging the wilds !

it would be aweosme to be able to switch off health regeneration (im level 4 now and probably drunk 2 potions so far and im on expert)

No, I haven't gotten to play yet, but from what I've seen I think argonian is the ony races that gets a healing buff. I don't know wheter it's active or passive, but thats doesn't matter, your a dunmer.

To awnser your original question, I haven't heard of the option to toggle the auto-healing. I think that you dont auto-heal if your a vampire and you stand in the sun, but thats about it. (From what i've heard of course; my copy of skyrim is still in the mail, dont trust me)

if on pc, player.setav healrate (also magikarate or staminarate) 0.0. If you want to have the changes carry over in yuor saves, use player.modav healrate -0.7 instead.

or head to the mod section of the boards for details

Developers promised it will be really slow
And I believed, naive me
Have to wait for mod that limits health regen (slows down and maybe only till 25%)

I play on easy ('cause I love to slaughter haha) and some enemies damage me to no end! Draugr Overlords are the worst >.<
Anyway, my point is once you face harder enemies you wont even notice health regeneration. It's mainly used for non-combat.

Example 1:

You're in a fight with a difficult enemy, your health is dangerously low, so health regeneration isn't an option. Solution? You use a potion.

Example 2: You finish the fight, your health is dangerously low. Wait for an hour. Health is now full, no potions were wasted. Now you can save them for Example 1.

That's what I do anyway and I run out of potions pretty often.

thanks guys it seems since im on a console i wont be able to disable it, thanks for all your responses....i have to say im very dissapointed though as the game feels more fable like then Elder scrollsm that im used to.
i liked it when you where travelling to a quest , got jumped by bandits who nearly kill you , then instead of simply just hiding behind a rock to magically regenerate you would have to pick ingredients make a potion etc and drink it, or go hunting to heal your self......im pretty dissapointed as cooking is totally irrelevent in my eyes which is a shame.

I agree - I would like this removed as well. In morrowind, I enchanted many items with health regen so by the end of the game I felt god-like. In Skyrim, I feel like that right away. Sure, it doesnt regen while in combat, but it does regen very quickly so there is no point in cooking, eating, etc. I wish I could change this - it makes the game too easy. Other than that, though, I love this game! Bethesda did a great job on it.
