No one knows... but i bet it will cost way more than the Solitude house... so save your money, i guess it would be 50k+ for a full upgraded house

A lot of what you need for construction could be found in the wilds, so might not be as expensive as you think.

I am glad you referenced the No Stone Unturned quest. That quest will single-handedly give you more money than you know what to do with, well the perk you acquire from it anyway.

Buying the land will cost, the rest is up to you. Do you want to work for the supplies or buy them?

This opinion may prove unpopular, but I'm rather hoping that the base cost of a property (without a home standing on it yet) is no less than 100k.

Let's be honest, the game needs more money-sinks. Buying a lot, building a home, and upgrading it fully should be something players really have to work hard for. It should be expensive. It should take a lot of farming, hard work (or theft, depending on your character).

Why should buying a plot of land in the wilderness be expensive? We could buy a plot with a house already built for a lot less than 100K. They are not going to sell DLC that only the rich can use, land buying and house building will be reasonably priced.

I'm pretty sure you can build a house with 0 gold. You just need to find the items in the wilds.

Because it's land. Ever bought land before?

We could buy a plot with a house already built for a lot less than 100K.

Right, and if the new houses are anywhere near the same price, it would make the existing houses almost entirely undesirable because they don't have the customization.

They are not going to sell DLC that only the rich can use, land buying and house building will be reasonably priced.

The "rich"? It's fake money. It's septims.

Point one "Because it's land. Ever bought land before?"
Hear of the housing crises? You can buy a home now dirt cheap. One would also imagine buying a house in a war-zone wouldn't be that expensive.

Point two "
Right, and if the new houses are anywhere near the same price, it would make the existing houses almost entirely undesirable because they don't have the customization."

Wrong, existing homes are in cities. Cities have all sorts of useful things in them. Like lots of merchants. Ever hear the old real-estate motto? Its all about location location location.

Point 3 "The "rich"? It's fake money. It's septims."
At this point I'd link a rabbit with a pancake on its head because I have no clue what your trying to get at. The person was obviously talking about in game pricing of houses, so this whole fake money thing...

Personally I have brought land. In Skyrim I have brought 5 houses, in desirable town locations where such things would be more expensive. A relatively poor hold, that is only offering land for their Thane to buy is not going to be selling it for more than a town house and land package is worth. Now they want us to spend money, they could always sell collectable items for us to decorate our new homes with. Doubt they would but you never know.

A new character is not going to have 100K to spend, the house and land would probably cost less than the Solitude house.

I think his point was less "but it locks out poor players" and more "but it locks out players who don't obsessively loot and sell everything or smith/enchant hundreds of items for raw profit".

Uh, I was actually referring to real life.

I know. That's the point. It should be something you have to build toward, not "Escape from Helgen. Kill three wolves, sell pelts, buy land, build house."

And remember, they don't want to invalidate the existing homes. There still needs to be a point to buying Proudspire or Honeyside, or Breezehome, and since they won't be customizable like the new lots, then the point would have to be "more affordable housing"

That's the beauty of Role play -.- And no it wouldn't be that Simple they would have to work and Do some quests... Why do you want People to kill and find almost everything in a game, and Then buy a house.

What if i want to be an Orc Cook, or an Archer who just wanders around woods, and kill stuff and stuff em in his trophy room? Why can't i do that.

You need to learn how the quoting function works, and while you're at you might want to look up what "customization" means. You can't customize the currently existing homes. You can upgrade them, but you can't customize them.

I hope it's a decent enough money sink.

If you do a decent amount of dungeon raiding at higher levels, or utilize the crafting skills, you'll have more gold than you know what to do with, and Prowler's Profit will have you swimming in gems.

If you're not going to work real hard to build an entire home/manor and all the other things you want with it, you should have to spend a lot of money to have someone do the work for you.

Makes sense, right?
