Hearthfire Crash to Desktop?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:10 am

I have recently started having a very irritating CTD issue. For awhile I'd been able to build, enter and exit, and have furnished most of my house, including dressed mannequins, and having two children and two housecarls in my house. The last couple days, my Skyrim decides to randomly crash, only while i am in my house. I loaded a previous save, where I was elsewhere, and played just fine. But when I fast travelled back to my house - clicked to open the door - instantly crashed.

This is really irritating, and stops me from doing pretty much anything in game. Any response would be apreciated.

I do not have any mods running. Hearthfire and Dawnguard are the only things running in my game. So I don't know?

I haven't had a single issue with Skyrim at all until now. I assumed it was shadows settings, and changed it, and it seemed to help, but then soon after I realized my crashing came from being in the house.

Have you removed the workbenches from the house, that seems to solve the problem for most people.

I think it's a pretty silly fix for the problem. I haven't finished all of the parts of my house completely, and having the workbenches there allow me to fix it up piece by piece as I please. Having to go and add one workbench at a time back into the house seems more of a pain than it's worth. Is this the official Bethesda fix? Or is there going to be some patch of some kind stopping the problem completely.

My current save file has me in the house itself, I can't move to the door without it crashing, and my previous save before then has me at a point before a bunch of finished quests.

And most of my save files before then, are in the house. I figured it was easiest to go back to my house at the "end of the day" so to speak, save there, and quit.
