Hearthfire does not work past main hall

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 4:49 am

I think a patch is needed badly for this for none of my saves can built past main hall I can pick a lay out but nothing happens it's just goes back to house lay out sometimes I can build other rooms but they don't show up.

Maybe a beta was needed for this DLC to

You can only pick one room per wing, you can't have all of them

And you can only choose one room at a time and build that room, you cannot choose all the ones you want and then go build them. It will default to either what has to be built first, or what the last wing you chose to build was if you already have the small house and main hall. It will also not build anything else if you have not completed what you have already started, but that should be pretty obvious.

It will not get built if you do not have the materials for it, but again that should be obvious, it will be greyed out if you have not everything to build it.

I started a new character so I'm going to have to build slow as I make some coin and collect materials, also get to enjoy a bit of cabin life by the lake. As my hero grows so will my Lakeview Manor.

Well if you are friends with a wood mill owner, he will let you mill your own wood and even deliver it for free, unlimited clay and stone are near the house. But you will need a massive supply of iron ingots and some corundum to build. Someone who has been doing a lot of mining and stocking up might have enough, or you are going to be doing the mine rounds and hunting for ore veins in the wilds if you cannot afford to buy it all. Make sure to kill the goats you see in the wilds, you need a LOT of goat horns when you start furnishing your new home.

I spent way to much gold on iron and corundum ingots. I have probably bought a total of at least 75 iron ingots and 15 corundum ingots.

No where near enough though, for even one house and all its furniture and fittings. My two characters are rich and both had a good supply from their own mining activities, and still the first is chasing iron. There are two iron veins near one of the houses that renew pretty quick. I have not explored that much yet, still furnishing.

I loaded my last save to try again but nothing happens.
I know you can only build 1 wing at a time that does nothing but bring up the house layout. Sometimes I have to build the main hall 3-5 times just to get the door for the bedrooms and when I build it no other plans show up.
I only paid for the lakeviwe manor but for some reson the game gave me the one in the swamps as well its crazy I wanted to build one house at a time but now I have two and I found that out after I saved.
So now I have one house+main hall and just the main hall roof at the other set of land.
This is the fist time my game has ever glitch or stopped working.

How did you manage to get only the main hall roof? You have to build the house in a logical order, you start with the foundations, or did everything vanish and just leave a floating roof?

It also seems strange you would be given another plot of land without buying it first. Are you sure you never actually brought it?

Nocturne thinks something smells like fish...

He looks around, but sees no Fishy Sticks, so something must be amiss...

I never did get a horse, I just may do that now I have a stable. Have built everything with the first house and all the outside stuff, quit a nice set-up. Have the main hall roped off, should start construction soon after some more adventuring.

I built my main house fine but I've noticing that when I go to the workbench, it will say I can build outside buildings I've already built. Such as stables, garden, etc. It uses the material but doesn't give me anything extra. Was hoping maybe I could get two stables lol.

Also when I was building the trophy room, sometimes the option to build parts of the house will disappear and showing the above statement. When I exit the workbench and come back, then it's fixed. Happened a few times.
