Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:59 am

So i saw articles stating that you have to fight off skeevers and Giants ugh as if the vampires attacking the towns isn't enough now our "built homes" are in danger too damnit Bethesda! and on top of that our "children" are suppose to have set names? really what happen to the RPG part i want to name my own children and do it the natural way and what about our "built homes" i mean WHERE can we build it in the "SELECTED" regions of the game why can't we just build it anywhere

comment below and i will be posting future parts to this subject

You adopt the kids so it makes sense you cant change their name. If I adopted a ten year old and wanted to change their name that would be awkward

The Pale, Falkreath, Hjaalmarch <- build zones

You likely build your home in the wild so running into trouble is inevitable

You do realize that re-naming your children would be a little wonkey, right?

Renvale: "Hi, little girl, what's your name?"

Sera: "Sera, sir."

Renvale: "And you're an orphan Sera?"

Sera: "Yes sir."

Renvale: "Well, I'm going to adopt you Sera, as my own child."

Sera: "Oh thank you sir! This is so wonderful!"

Renvale: "Oh, your name now is Barfalot."

Sera: "But sir, I like my name. And besides, Barfalot sounds hidious."

Renvale: "Sorry kid. I believe Barfalot sounds better then...what was your name again?"

Sera: "Sera"

Renvale: "Right, Sera. That's a stupid fantasy name. I want something my 13 year real life buddies will laugh their butts off too. Wait, why are you running away. Barfalot, get back here!"

Sigh.

Your wife, being inside the house, wouldn't know a giant is attacking from the outside. Y'know, being different cells and whatnot. I also doubt the Skyrim engine would be able to handle a 'build your home anywhere' concept. That's kind of ridiculous to ask.

If you can't handle a few skeevers + giants, then I pity you. That, and the fact that you can hire bodyguards makes it even EASIER for you to protect your home.

well your family stays inside your house. giants wont be able to enter it and skeevers will be in the basemant. you can also hire stewards to protect your house. i dont really see a problem with it

I think Giants or Skeevers will start attacking only if you have like cows, chickens and more living stuff around your house, not if you simply have a house and that's it. We know from the vanilla game that Giants use to attack cows to turn them into their dinner, so what would be the point of the attack if you chose not to have a cow at all?

It's a small $5 add on, I'm slightly confused as to why you want/expect so much to come out of this.

So if you can make babies naturally, then Beth would have to implement a pregnant version of every marriable woman NPC. Then a baby for each race. Then how long would you have to wait for the child? And since you wanna make it naturally, your next big cry would be for six. Then Skyrim would be Fable. six in video games is stupid.

I hope the houses are not constantly under attack I will have an issue then.
I do not want them in my house at all but to me it looks like the skeevars can come inside if that's the case I hope its only in the basemant. Hopefully you can build a wall around your home.

In Morrowind you could have one of three houses built not counting Raven Rocks Factors Estate. These houses was all at pre determined locations to avoid any kind of issue with the home not being placed awkwardly on the land.

I hope we can choose from a fee different locations within each hold but I am not going to hold my breath. I don't want to be disappointed with the house building DLC.

You mean I might have to maintain my home and protect it from pests and Giants? You mean I cannot just build it and ignore it? It won't just fix itself? I have to take care of my property???

It's really not that hard at all to defend NPCs from most of the games threats. Unless you just happen to not know it's going on.

I will post what I posted in another thread before it started falling apart. The attacks are the only thing that has me on the fence with Hearthfire. First we had random dragon attacks, then with Dawnguard we have random vampire attacks in cities. And now with Hearthfire we have attacks on our home, it seems like bethesda is trying to force combat into everything we do in skyrim. And I say no thank you to that, I like having places were I don't have to be on edge all the time and just relax. So I hope the attacks in Hearthfire are very, very rare.
