Hearthfire a missed oppertunity

This post isn't a complaint post.

After playing around with hearthfire i feel that this DLC should of been added in a regular patch not because i dont think its worth $5, infact i definately is worth it, but because i feel so much more could be done with the system it introduced in following DLCs packs. Being able to build our own homes is rather neat but i believe it could be greatly expanded to allow for us to build/rebuild intire towns and cities in the game. In Oblivion, a very popular mod on the PC was being able to rebuild the city of Kavatch. Now in skyrim we helgen which was destroyed and is now just sitting there as ruins with the odd bandit camp. Hearthfire's mechanics, i believe could be used to rebuild the town and allow us to run our own town.
But now because Hearthfire is it own DLC instead of being patched in to being part of the base game, rebuilding Helgen cant happen unless you have the hearthfire DLC. This is because we know that from fallout:new vegas (and FO3 ircc) that Obisdian and bethesda couldnt patch certain perks to work with DLC weapons if they werent in the same DLC or in the base game because of a limit with the way how the loadlists and loader worked with consoles ( those problems were easily fixed on the PC). There would also be issues with the fact that not everyone buys all DLC that gets released thus it could cause potential problems with needing a DLC in order to to use another DLC.

Anyone agree/disagree

these is nothing to say they cannot reuse the mechanics of the DLC, they just wouldn't included the house portions of the DLC, if i remember from messing around in the geck with the fallout dlc they reused assets from other DLCs

I don't get the fascination of wanting to rebuild Helgen. It'll be over-taken by bandits or the hold's soldiers, so it's not like we can live there. HF was okay, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed we didn't get any animations of actually building our house. Just pick from a list, and *POOF*, the thing is there. The best thing about the add-on was the ability to adopt. I was even surprised they modified the current city houses so we can move our children into them.

The biggest problem I have now is where to move. I'd love to do Whiterun, but this requires opening the MQ, and that's not feasible since I'm playing my game 81 years after the events of the Dragonborn. :P

Disagree. I'd rather they keep new content separate from the patch updates, which need to be reserved for addressing and fixing bugs.

I agree more could possibly have been done with the principle and whos to say that Beth are not considering it but not sure i agree with random god powers to create or rebuild towns at will how does that fit in with the lore of the game and its unknown future you could rebuild Helgen only to find that that was going to be the centre of new DLC which it conflicts with
Unfortunately from my point of view this is where i differ from PC gamers who distort their games with mods -this game is big enough for anyone without the mods but i do not want to start a war its just that these threads should really be tagged with a sub header by type ie PC mods, 360 or pS3=again just my opinion.

There might yet be a DLC for rebuilding a city in the future. Doesn't really go with the concept of Hearthfire, which is more home and family oriented.
