Hearthfire's possible meaning...

Post » Mon Aug 27, 2012 9:49 pm

So, I was just doing some homework for school, and the word hearth popped up, with the meaning; place from which an innovation originates. Idk if this has been brought up yet, but maybe in the possible dlc hearthfire, somewhere will be on fire. Just a guess...

I hope Hearthfire is about carpentry, so I can build my own unique home somewhere in the Whiterun tundra.

My guess is it's a house dlc.

I'm not convinced that it's going to revolve solely around constructing homes, as the leak suggests. Mr. Howard himself said that he and the team realize that fans want more than just the stronghold DLCs that were common with Oblivion. If anything, it's going to implement the remaining features previewed at GameJam, including home construction.

An entire expac revolving around building useless homes is idiotic. You can't develop a decent plot around it.

There is many things Bethesda can do with unanswered questions in the base game and hopefully they expand upon some of it, and also add house building and other stuff players have wanted for ages.

There are many many many theories about what it means.

1. Magic
2. Houses
3. Orcs
4. Summoning Days for Princes
5. Zombies (I hope not)

I'm sure I've missed a few other theories. Personally I could see the first two combined. The third was reasonable.

You missed my prophecy about it being an upgrade to the fire pits of Skyrim.

Great, now I'm going to have to update my sig from yet another respec thread to yet another hearthfire thread.

I really hope it has the option to build your own house, not just limited to something like breezehome but where you can build something like a manor or that

I suppose you could link all 5 of them. Pretty far fetched, but knowing Bethesda... Oh god no ive jinxed it

If the 5th one is true...I think I'd leave that dlc alone.
By technicality you COULD link them all together I can't imagine what the plot line for that would end up being...

The house thing also extended to rebuilding places like Helgan or Winterhold.

Zombies... I just assume it's a general comment about it being a necromancy thing. But if they do a COD zombies level.. I'm freakin' outta here. :bolt:

I'm willing to bet that if they release DG to PS3 now then the Dawnguard forums will flood with people saying their game is f-ed up.

It was something about necromancy but from one of the pics I looked at there were Draugr standing on a bridge outside of Riverwood (I'm it was a thrall or something but it didn't have the glowy bits to show that).

Let's go to.... Orisinium?
They guy who mentioned the orcs thing put up a good argument as to why it could be about them. I'll have to find the thread it was on.

Malak the Orc put up a good argument as to why it'd be orc based. Warning there are some spoilers pertaining to DG.

I hope he's right, but with Dawnguard i'm not getting my hopes up for anything that sounds half as good as that guy said...

If Bethesda didn't rush it I'm sure whatever decision they make (excluding the Zombies) would turn out really good.

Isn't it just supposed to be named after the month Hearthfire?
I don't think the definitions of Hearth and fire have anything to do with it.

I'm just gonna go with my instincts and say it's that House-building DLC, at least the guy's theory is backed up by a guy who predicted quite a few other DLC content.

If house construction is involved I hope Bethesda doesn't make the glaring omission of being unable to send your spouse to live there. But by the divines it would so be like them to leave out something so obvious.

Why wouldn't you want a Necromancer focused DLC?

Because some guy posted a picture of frostcrag spire from Oblivion. Then later he said hearthfire was a house building dlc. Suddenly this makes him a prophet. That and he made some lucky guesses on a game from another developer.

you guys want a house dlc? I think it's completely pointless and a waste of money if we got a house DLC. there are too many mods on PC for it. I want atmora as a DLC, something big, like shivering isles. Not some "house" dlc. That's good enough for a free patch.
