Heavy and light armor penalty for magic?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 3:38 pm

Is there a penalty for wearing heavy or light armor and casting magic? In oblivion there was, I think it affected spell damage?

To me it seems there is no penalty, but you just dont get the magicka regen of wearing robes...but you can just enchant it on armor right?

Magicka regen doesnt seem to work in combat anyway...hmm maybe it is just as effective to be a caster in heavy armor.

I'd LOVE to know too if anyone knows. Was thinking abou going Pure mage with Dragon Armor and just enchant it with Magicka enchants.

there is no penalty to magic from using armor, however, be wary of the speed and stamina reductions, and I still havnt confirmed if enchants are reduced in armor types compared to cloth ones.
also consider that the special perks from alteration rely you using no armor pieces.

yesterday I made the same conclusion... but today I realized how wrong I was.
theres way too many goodies in alteration for a mage that far surprass anything heavy armor gives, especially in max difficulty setting where heavy armor isnt enough to survive power attacks while the extra sprinting time and base speed with alteration paralysis and shields/wards, do the job much better(wards are from resto but still) .

also will be confirming if the dual enchantings suffer penatly from being used on heavy armor or not, once I get 100 enchanting and grand souls, cuz so far all enchants I done on heavy armor came out lesser than clothing

Robe enchants on armors are considerably weaker.

Take a robe with 15% reduction in destruction costs and 125% + mana regen on a plate chest.

It will turn out to be 5% and 10%, really subpar.

This really svcks for battlemages :(

I think it has to do with ur enchanting skill. once you get higher skill, you can enchant with higher stats, also dont forget to use grand or black soul gems they give the highest stats.
