Heavy And Light Armor Sneak

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:02 am

I have a bowman assassin character and have lveled him to 46 when i started i threw points into light armor but now that i have seen daedric armor and obtained the ebony mail i would like to be able to switch and be versitile
the only other perks i really want are the last 4 sneak ones , and the first 6 alchemy ones. I know i can get those and the 5 heavy armor perks i want with the 81 level cap but that will take a long time

So my question is will cycling through the sneak, heavy armor and enchanting perks underpower my character? I have no need for more light armor perks but i could get the sneak and enchant perks much faster if i disregard heavy armor, and i think im going for sneak first regardless for the last perk.

And so my othermy question is , Is it viable to get the heavy armor perks too or should i not get them since im so invested in light amor is a character that switches between them viable at all? or is it just a waste? I really only want the first five but with those and the sneak/enchants i would need 15 levels to get them all. dont want to crate a new char but i look so sick in H/A
Also becuase I am an archer and barely get hit is it worth getting them at all? I mean without them i feel like using heavy is useless as its the same rating as light at this stage.

So opinions?
ps; sorry for the way this post is written im half asleep

Armor choice is down to Aesthetics and any material can reach the armor cap, depending on what skills and perks and improvements are made.

That being said, HA is reduces Sneak because of noise of your boots. So, you need Muffle to overcome that. That enchantment is not easy to find, and casting the spell has it's own issues unless you have the right Perks.

Another thing to think about, is Sneaky people tend to LA and Tanks/Fighters/Bruisers tend to HA.

If you don't take a lot of hits, you don't really need the heavy armor perks. My mage does just fine with heavy armor and no perks for it.

Personally I'd stick with light armour. Save the cool heavy stuff for your next character and make them a warrior type.

I've never heard of someone using BOTH heavy and light armor. Seems really weird considering what armor you use is largely based on your style of play.

My suggestion is to pick one or the other. There's no sense in investing perks in heavy armor if you've already invested plenty in light armor. Just continue using light armor. Alternatively if you want to use heavy armor that badly, consider creating a new character. Its redundant and just plain weird to use both heavy and light armor in my opinion and I'm sure others would argue against it for various reasons, one of which is the immersion factor. You're sneaking around wearing light armor when suddenly you're spotted and in less than a second's time you're fully decked out in heavy armor??? How did that happen?

As for is this not viable or will it make you underpowered? I dunno. Honestly its hard to say because it seems like so long as you have at least one "offensive" skill mastered and one "defensive" skill mastered (both of which should have all appropriate perks) you should do just fine. This also depends on what difficulty you're playing on and what you consider "under/overpowered" since people playing level 81.5 vampire characters with magic immunity and smithing + enchanting maxed out so that all their weapons' damage and all their armors' armor rating is fully maxed out (which is what I intend to be doing) will probably tell you that anything less is "underpowered" when in fact its their build that's broken.

my lv 60 Nord uses both light ahd heavy armor. Both are perked to about 90.

Reason is I like certain light armor, and I like certain heavy armor. Depends on what I'm doing. If I'm doing missions with a lot of fighting I have her wear heavy armor. If I'm doing DB quests or TG where its more stealth then fight, I'll switch to light armor. Neither make any noise due to the armor and sneak perks applied

Pretty much this. Glass armor still looks pretty cool too, and it's light.

i also use a ranged, stealth layout...but i find that the steed stone negates any "bad" element of heavy armor...thus allowing you to use it without weight restraints or noise
