(Hello everyone!) PS3 texture streaming issues with lag prob

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:08 pm

First of all, I wanted to say hello to everyone, since I'm new to this forum.
My question was about the fact that on PS 3, as you already know, there are many issues related to low resolutions textures. Along with the lag problems, It's almost impossible to play the game, both because the low resolution textures doesn't give a good graphic game experience and because the lag makes the whole game system even worse. I wanted to ask If somebody knows If the patch that will be released after Thanksgiving will solve the texture streaming issue too?

Well for my part, I only experienced 2 freezes so far that only implied a mere reboot with no lost data. In terms of lag, I only get a frustrating one in the Menus where 1 out of 2 times, it won't let me scroll through the options for a few seconds like it is loading something. I tried unchecking the option to auto-save after a set amount of time in the menu and it did help but very little, hoping this will get resolved with the patch too. I haven't noticed any lag in the gameplay itself and no low res graphics too. The game is definitely well running in high res (1080p) on my side. This could be an issue with your PS3 settings or even you TV.

i had no texture problems untill last nite after about 60+ hours of play, it was alittle after the game started to drop in performance with constant low frames with that jerky, twitchy feeling and little mini freezes all over the shop. funny thing the game hasnt actually once completely froze my ps3... not yet anyways. but yeah, had some bad texture streaming where an entire road/stonepath wouldnt load in, and some walls completely disappearing.

I see. Well, forgive me for my stupid question, maybe can you give me a piece of advice about a thing? How can I set the ps3 on high res? Or my TV, I still thinks that maybe It's my PSe that gives me that problem...The game runs with a HD cave, even If i know that the PS3 system already has a HD graphic runner. So, how can you help me? I just hate to see such a wonderful game ruined by some lower texture....

Plus, about the problems of low texture streamings, there are the shades that are terrible....They aren't smooth and soft. What can I do to make them look better?

I keep hoping that in the patch that will be released everything will be solved...For my part I have no lag issues, but too often textures don't load correctly. I use a HD cave to play the game. Maybe should I change some PS3 settings? Help me please >.<

Your problem isn't lag then exactly. Your not even lagged but rather you're in an invisible menu. All you have to do to fix this is when it happens press left on the left anolog stick. Once you do that your menu controls will be restored.

i think the texture issue is connected with the lag, when my game first started to lag i started noticing all the low res textures popping up, hopefully the patch will fix it, if it doesn't then it looks like we all just payed $60 for a skyrim coaster

we just have to wait and see if the patch sorts everything out, beth are the only ones who can properly fix it. but if you get bad texture streaming again, try fast travelling to a different location and back again.
i got even worse texture problems tonight, whole sections of the back drop, all the mountains and trees were completely missing..

The low res textures is a known issue, at least for a lot of PS3 gamers. Don't know if Bethesda acknowledged it yet though and if the upcoming patch will fix it. From my experience it isn't related to the lag, because most of my textures didn't stream properly since day 1, yet now, as my save file grows close to 10mb, more and more textures seem to be working alright while on the other hand the lag increases significantly. It's a case of bad vs. terrible and there isn't much you can do about it other than waiting, hoping, praying.

Yes. A person on Reddit who played Skyrim on a PC and used console commands to get out of a city, the took a screenshot of the unrendered world.

They said that the pathc that will be released will fix the problems that ruined the game's experience on console. Now, the two consoles are Xbox360 and PS3. If Bethesda assured that -all- the issues of the games will be fixed, I suppose that the worked on fixing the texture streaming issue too? Since It's one of the main problem of gamers. Even If It started appearing on Xbox (that's stupid, just because there are more Xbox players than PS3 players that compaint about this I would find it ABSURD If the texture patch is adressed ONLY to the Xbox version of Skyrim, especially If they already know that on PS3 the texture streaming is a problem MANY complaint about) that doesn't mean that on PS3 that issue doesn't exist. I feel very disappointed to see such a wonderfrul game almost destroyed by the low texture resolution. It's not worth it. The Elder Scrolls is without a doubt one of the BEST RPG ever created. We can't let a few stupid bugs ruin it. So, i keep hoping wityh all myself that Bethesda team was intelligent enough to udnerstand that PS3 version of Skyrim needs to be fixed about that problem too. I still dont know If It's due to the lag, but I don't think so. I played at Skyrim and there wasn't any trace of lag, but many texture didn't load and everything was awful...Many clothes, rocks or trees are horrible. So do you think that the patch will include the fixing to this problem too? After all, many articles talked about that saying that on PS3 the patch would have fixed this. But after a few days, the "texture streaming issue" became a "lag issue" (while the texture issue kept and keeps being complaint by many gamers). I just hope they didn't forget that PS3 version needs to be fixed about this too.

Right now i'd say the main thing bethesda is worrying about (for the ps3) is the lag issue (if its not caused by the texture issue) - the main thing bethesda is worrying about for the xbox is the texture issue because besides that its about the only main bug on that console i would say the rest of the patches for both consoles will be broken quest fixing and some other minor bugs.

Well, I hope it'll get fixed of course, but we can't be sure since Bethesda isn't allowed to give us the patch notes before Sony and Microsoft approved the patch. If you ask me, though, I think that the streaming issue is compareable to or maybe even exactly the same like on the 360, so odds are pretty good that it's going to be fixed on PS3 as well. Yet I don't think that *every* texture was supposed to look great in the first place. It's a huge game and the hardware is pretty old by now, so I guess there had been compromises to be made in order to get the game running. IMO it might have been a wise idea to actually do wait for the next console cycle. I mean, the game looks great and all (when it works as intended) but imagine how it could have looked on PS4 and next Xbox ... would've easily been a system seller too. And I also think it would have run better, because I can't imagine Sony to make the PS4 as much of a pain in the ass to develop on as the PS3 is. This is just my speculation though.

Yes, I totally agree with you. I'll just wait, hoping that we'll be able to see the game in a better way.

To be honest, low-res textures are the least of my concerns, although they seem to be getting more frequent. It used to be that the image of the item: "Skull" would never load high-res, but now more and more things aren't loading high-res. Last night I also experienced my first bit of lag, during a large battle in the Radiant Companions Quest Rescue Mission. It cleared right up, but now it seems that I'm looking for it, so I'm noticing a bit more. I plan on putting in a long session tonight after feasting on turkey, so it'll be interesting to see if/when the lag starts creeping in.

Low texture resolution doesn't concern me at all. It just makes me get nervous, like many other players, I suppose. It's just very annoying to see rocks, clothes and trees that seem to come from a 2004 game. I can say that I'm lucky because I haven't experienced lag issues anymore for almost a few weeks, but the texture streaming issue keeps bothering me. It just makes the game experience low. And Skyrim isn't worth it. Some players kindly replied to my topi saying that Bethesda team surely have considered this issue and may have put a fix in the patch, because It may probably be the same issue the Xbox version has.
