Help! Blood on the ice and the stormcloaks

Post » Sun Aug 26, 2012 10:04 am

Hi everyone,
i just had a quick question. I am playing skyrim on the Xbox 360 with my Argoinia and am loving it. However i was told by one of my friends that one of the best quests in the game is the Blood on the Ice quest that takes place in Windhelm. I was very excited to get this quest started so i did everything that it says to do in the strategy guide: Leave Windhelm and come back at least four times and then come back at night. I have been trying that with no success. I have tried to teleport at night and nothing happens. I have even tried to go outside the Windhelm gate teleport elsewhere and then come back. I really want to do this quest but am not sure what's going on. Could this caused by the fact that i destroyed the stormcloaks and maybe Windhelm was changed? Please help anyway you can. Thank you.

I completed the quest under Imperial rule for Windhelm. It may be that to much time has passed. Can you buy the home in Windhelm from the new steward? Buy it.

Blood on Ice is such a bugged quest there are MANY ways to start it. I have encountered a few ways but the easiest is to buy the house and start from there. Sounds like you've been to Windhelm to many times for the original start to happen.

Try talking to some random Windhelm residents - you might have to have a dialog about the murders first. Then leave. I usually exit out the gate before fast traveling, then come back through the gate at night(in otherwords, fast travel back to the stables and then walk into the city). Then go to the graveyard and see if it starts. If not, then the previous poster may be correct. I've never started it that late in the CW timeline. Also, here is more info on triggering the quest as well as some things that might prevent it from starting: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Blood_on_the_Ice#How_to_Start_the_Quest
