Help me find Cicero & the Night Mother

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 4:33 am

Hi,

So I have a interesting set of playthrough circumstances here and I am wondering if I might be able to track down Cicero & the Night Mother.
  • I stumbled upon Cicero with his broken wagon wheel and not knowing what was in it or who he was, I helped him by persuading the farmer to fix his wagon. He stayed there for quite awhile.
  • I destroyed the Dark Brotherhood, but Cicero was not in the Falkreath Sanctuary, nor was the Night Mother (unless they are in a secret spot in there I haven't found). This makes sense, because he had been waiting for the farmer all the while.
  • After destroying the DB, I returned to where Cicero was broken down and he is no longer there. I haven't asked the farmer, but I doubt he has any dialogue on where Cicero went.

So where has he gone? I returned some while later back to the Falkreath Sanctuary, and nothing has changed in there. I read that in the DB questline he goes to the Dawnstar Sanctuary and I suppose it would make sense for him to arrive at Falkreath, see the carnage and realize that sanctuary has been compromised, and bring the Night Mother to Dawnstar. The only issue with that is I can't gain access to the Dawnstar Sanctuary without doing the DB quest part that sends Cicero there. I guess I presume thats where they went and that they are safe and sound.

I would like to kill him and put an end to this Night Mother business once and for all but I don't know if that is possible now?

Hmm, didn't know about that one.

This was noted:
"Since the fate of Babette and Cicero is undecided, it is possible that in future Elder Scrolls games the Dark Brotherhood can rebuild itself even after the Dovahkiin wiped out the last Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary."

Not sure what that means, about Cicero's unknown fate.

Yeah, it would seem he and the Night Mother have simply vanished.

I just looked on youtube at the placement of the Night Mother in the sanctuary and she is definitely not there (as in, there is no secret room I am missing).

He'll probably be at the Dawnstar sanctuary, although you are now locked out from there forever.

In the DB questline the listener and the night mother become hidden during the Imperial assault on the Falkreath sanctuary. The night mother is only taken to the Dawnstar sanctuary after the imperials leave the scene in Falkreath. The DB obviously have a method in place to obscure the night mother in case of emergency. So it's safe to assume the same thing happens if you choose to destroy the DB. So yes, she's all safe and sound in the Dawnstar sanctuary.

Besides that, it's quite foolish to believe you can destroy the DB by destroying the night mother. Sithis isn't just going to let you get at her easy peasy. And even if you would manage to destroy the night mother, besides making Sithis your mortal enemy, Sithis would probably just choose another.

Techical talk time: CiceroRoad and his cart et all are disabled as soon as "With Friends Like These..." completes, either normally or by killing Astrid. Cicero can be killed, but you have to pursue the normal Brotherhood questline to do so.

The Night Mother is a talking activator and cannot be killed in any meaningful way.

If you complete the DB quest line and read Cicero's journals you learn

Spoiler
Cicero knew of the Dawnstar sanctuary before he arrived at the Falkreath sanctuary. So while game wise eliminating the DB prevents further interaction with Cicero or the night mother, lore wise its not a stretch to assume Cicero and the night mother could start a new DB following the five tenets at Dawnstar.

So what OP wants is not impossible, but the DB isn't dead.
