Help on Skyrim Xbox 360 Texture Problems

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:38 pm

Loving the game, loving the Nordic setting and the new format and interface, definitely my GOTY,

BUT

I am having real big problems with the texture in my Skyrim on the Xbox 360. Many textures aren't being rendered and just looks odd/absurd. Clothing on NPCs are flat without detail. Some environments are flat without detail. My characters hands have no detail. Some items have no detail, lack texture. No matter how long I wait, the textures DO NOT load and catch up.

I have tried both installed and uninstalled but nothing works. I am on Xbox-live. The texture problems ruins the immersion of the game. I only got the game this morning, at first I thought that people who got their Skyrim early were just blowing the texture issues wayyyy out of proportion, but it looks like I am also in that minority now.

What version of Skyrim is Todd playing in the demos because my textures do not look that detailed.

Is anyone else having this same problem?

Is there a fix to this?

I installed it straight away and downloaded the 3mb patch, and have no texture issues.

"Posted Today, 06:35 PM
Skyrim uses a lot of dynamic streaming systems, including textures. We’ve seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up. We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disk and when the game is fully cached (not installed). Skyrim makes heavy use of the Xbox 360 caching system, and caches over the normal course of play while in menus or interiors. This cache can be wiped when other games are played or when the user manually removes it. We’re working on a solution in the next title update for those who have installed the game. "

Lurk around the Xbox issues forum for more information. This is from Bethesda, so they are aware.

I did that initially as well, no textures, then I uninstalled, no textures. WTF

Someone help please? Driving me crazy these NPCs walking around with highly detailed faces but with no detail, no texture clothes!

Came home with my copy an hour ago and I am yet to install it to my HD due to the statement from Bethesda. They say that they are working on it. wish they would hurry up because these loading times in between screens are a bit long imo.

Don't all games have texture problems on the Xbox?

Can anyone confirm that un-installing from hdd on the 360 and then playing off the disc fixes this problem please?

because I've tried and the textures are still the same!

Try clearing your cache and then reload the update. This seems to be working for some people.

What type of 360 are you on? I'm running off the disk but haven't had any issues over 4 hours.

Really? I'm honestly very impressed with the loading times so far.

Had the same problem, uninstalled it, cleared the cache, installed it to an usb stick and the problem went away after some time. Immediately after uninstalling and clearing cache the problem will persist for a bit, but after some time it will go away. Reason I installed it to usb is to reduce disc noise, not sure whether it shortens loading screens.

You may have a number of games installed that have filled up the Cache. I have seen reports where folks can not solve the issue by uninstalling as you are experiencing. I have seen this on my friends 360, but it is not such an issue that the game is unplayable while they come out with the fix. In other words, they are not huge blocky ugly things like when a mod is not installed right on the PC, just less detail in some instances.

It is unfortunate, but Bethesda is working on a fix. They just don't want the fix to make other things worse, so it takes a bit of time.

I don't have Xbox Live , so when the patch is released on Xbox live I'll have no means of getting access to it.
What are bethesda gonna do about people like me. :/

my texture problem, after a few very annoying hours of trying everything to find out what was causing it, are due to opening the menu. if a start the game and load up my save everything is in HD and looks perfect, the second i open up the menu and close it, everything goes to low res, and i mean everything, my character, the ground, the sky everything. So upsetting.....

For those who aren't having an problem i really really envy you. My mate is playing it maxed out next to me on his pc and this makes me want to cry.

There is XBox Live Gold which costs money, and XBox Live Silver which is free, and should provide you with updates. Do you not have an internet connection? Do you not have a friend with an internet connection where you can take your XBox too to download the update?
