I have pillaged and plundered my way to a rapidly accumulating wealth, and thought I would blow some of that hard won gold on Proudspire manor. But I am at a loss as I seem to be stuck in a loop I can't get out of. I have talked to everyone in the Jarl's court and have a miscellaneous quest log entry of somehting like "go to the courtyard in Solitude" I get there and have an arrow over Falk FIrebeard but no additional dialog comes up.

Any one have any clues? Oh yah I even did the first Bards quest quest to see if that worked to no avail.

Sometimes NPCs get stuck and don't make their rounds. You might need to reset the cell. To do this you have to spend a set number of days outside of Solitude. I don't know what that number is... but it's probably about a month.

Have you tried selecting each dialog option again even though it's grayed out? Sometimes a dialog option is grayed out even when it's new, and selecting it may open up other options afterwards.

I'm at a complete loss here. It has been well over 50 in game days, I have been going after smaller favors for town folk, and still the misc. quest of "head to the courtyard in solitude" with an arrow of falkbeard, and no new dialog. I want to kill the wold and buy the house, but it's not happening.

OK no luck no matter what I do here. Is there a known bug that keeps the "go to the courtyard in solitude" option open in Misc. quests? Ole' falk hs his arrow above him and nothing I do will let the dialog progress.

sometimes entries remain stuck in the miscellaneous even if you already completed them, are you sure that isn't something you already did?

I'm sure. I am trying to get the quest to kill the wolf so I can but proudspire manor.

In case anyone cares, the answer lies in completing "The Fallen" quest. I started this in the middle of the fallen and decided to back burner that quest. Well this evening i finished it and low and behold the proper dialog appeared and I have the quest for wolfskull cave.

At long last proudspire is going to be mine!
