Help or tips in using Nifscope for a simple project

Post » Mon Aug 06, 2012 5:44 am

I am in need of a modified Orchish Helm. I am a big fan of plumes on a helm. Not the crest plumes, like the Imperial helms. I have always been favored to the single plume that is not unlike a pony tail, that emerges from the crown of the head, or helm as the case may be.

I am going for a plume that has more spread or fanned out from a ponytail version. Not unlike the Vampire helms in this Underworld shot.

Or this, except a little longer.http://cdn.funcom.com/aoc/newsletter/issue18/features/armor.jpg

The Orchish helms have a spindly plume and it needs to be more like these. With fanning down at shoulder length. Then maybe giving the helm a black tint, in lieu of the Orcsh green hue.

I can retexture the color of the helm. I just lack the skills to expand on the size and volume of the existing plume.

I thought it would be simple to just get the file in Nifscope and do a copy and paste on what is already there. But my lack of intellect can't figure out how to select the plume to copy it.

Thanks

Your best bet is to get a 3D Modeling software like 3DS max/Blender and extend it yourself in that program. It should be relatively easy there. Then just import it into the game.

You'll have more control over how exactly you want it to look too, as opposed to having to hack something together in Nifskope.

Thank you for the response.

3DS costs money, so that is not an option. I have Blender, but I just end up screaming and throwing things. Besides, Ido not understand how to get the files into it.

I just thought it would be simple to select the plume and hit "copy".... but I can't figure out how to do that...

Then, there is adding the new texture to the copied and expanded plume, but that can come later.

The orcish helm is all one piece so you'd never be able to just select the "plume" and copy it. As said, any modifications need to be done in a 3D modeling program.

I could give it a go for you.
