Help! Im a vampire and i cant not be one!

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 8:17 pm

I started a whole new character for dawngaurd, leveled up and got started.
I carried around cure disease potions because i did not want to become a vampire. i did not have vampirism, then all of a sudden i started getting messages about my blood boiling... i went into my active effects menu and sure enough, i'm a vampire.
i figured this was odd, but id just go get it cured. well, no luck. no one notices i am a vampire. I kept going through the stages and all of the bad effects (weakness to fire, sunlight, etc) I tried to feed but no luck.. i get NO menu to feed on sleeping victims.
I progressed all the way to a stage 4 vampire.
now here is the thing: i cant feed and villagers dont run in fear form me. I get all of the bad effects of being a vampire (and the good) but i DONT WANT ANY OF IT!
as a last resort i started the companions quest and became a werewolf.

here is the thing, i am now a werewolf AND a vampire! ARGH!
i love being a werewolf, and planed on being one eventually but i dont want vampirism.

I am on 360 btw (well, i have dawnguard so thats a given right now)

any help bethesda?

This is perfect, load a previous save if you want to fix. Imo I wouldn't in your situation you can be both a werewolf at the same time as a vampire. Become a werewolf so you will be a hybrid.

They changed it so that NPCs only run from VLs; stage 4 vamps are now safe.

I take it you went to the dude in Morthal and there was no option to get yourself cured? Try progressing the DG MQ and see if the option to become infected with vampirism is still there. Maybe if you get infected again you'll be properly flagged as a vampire and can then cure yourself.

Maybe if you get infected again you'll be properly flagged as a vampire and can then cure yourself.

Only, if he's receiving the benefits of both werewolf and vampire, he is completely immune to disease. He would have to cure his lycantrophy (which he can't get back later, unless these rare werewolf encounters in Dawnguard make it so you can contract it again) and then still hope he can be cured in Morthal.

PS, can you cure vampirism multiple times?

Just found in another discussion that if you cure your lycantrophy, Aela can make you a werewolf again, but only once more. Otherwise, you would have to hope on a random (and very rare) encounter with a werewolf in the wild. Cross your fingers you can cure your vampirism easily without these work-arounds.

This is a well known glitch by now. Go to the Xbox Support Forum and look up the thread "Serana infected me with quasi-vampirism". I'd link it but I'm lazy. Basically, I had the same thing happen to me. I don't know what started it, but the only way to get it cured is to become a VL and then go to Falion to be cured. The unfortunate thing is, you will most likely get infected with this vampirism again, and again, and again... well you get the picture. As I said, I don't know what triggers it, but once this glitch starts occuring, it repeats itself. So, my suggestion is roll a VL for your current character or keep a stockpile of Black Soul Gems and hope you don't keep getting it back to back, one on top of the other. Good luck!

Also, for people saying that Dawnguard doesn't need patching... :lmao:

ok, i am cured.
i continued the danwguard quest and became a vampire lord, then later on went back and became a werewolf again. i am no longer a hybrid... i hope the werewolf "immunity" stops it from happening again ;(

That is awesome. Isn't that the plot of an underworld movie? I would test how far you can take this. Vamp seduction them maul someone as a werewolf.

This is why you keep dozens of saves. So you can fall back when things inevitably fail in these large sandbox games.

I you can't feed on anyone because you're in stage four and you wanna be cured of your vampirism; follow these instructions:

1. Go to the vampire castle Volkihar.

2. In the dinning room there are three bottles of "potion of blood." They are on the three tables in the dinning room. In the castle's balcony where Serana's mother is there is one more. It is on the upper part of her lab on a table.
Drink as many as you like to subside the vampirism.

3. Go to Falion's house in Morthal talk to him about a cure for vampirism. He will tell you that you need a Black soul gem. He can also sell you one if you don't have one yourself.

4. Once you've gotten it enchant a sword with soul trap and paralize and kill a giant ( this way you can beat the crap out of them while they're down ) they are the easiest victoms.

5. Take the gem back to Falion and he'll tell you where to meet him to perform a ritual which is located in the marsh of Morthal. kill these two mud crabs so that they want interfere with the ritual. Falion will tell you to meet him there at dawn. So what ever time it is that you speak with him; wait at the ritual circle until 5:30 - 5:45am.
NO LATER!

Note: when ever you become a vampire you can go to Falion time and time again.
You can also become a vimpire by Serana time an time again.
Here's another tip!
"Cure all disease potions" won't cure your vampirism, but a "Necklace of Disease immunity" that increases Disease resistance will keep you from becoming infected by a vampire.
I found one at 100%.
