As long as you are joining a dedicated server, you shouldn't have to worry about port natting and your router/firewall. I think that message is mainly for consoles, but I'm not sure.
If you want to host a game on your system of join a game thats hosted behind a firewall with PAT (port nat) enabled (basically any internet home router) you will need to enable some form of port forwarding on your home router.
That said, I haven't been able to find any documentation on what ports its using. I looked in my firewall logs, and I'm seeing UPD 27900, UDP 3544, TCP 29900, TCP 6667, etc. Its all over the place. Thats just the traffic from my PC during the time I was playing Crysis 2.
