Help - my wife has disappeared !

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 3:06 am

Hello,

I just got married to Lydia in Riften. Just after the ceremony, she left the temple of Mara and she just vanished!

I have tried my house in Whiterun (where she was stationed) and my house in Riften, but I can't find her.

Where did she go?!

With my anticipated thanks!

Have you been back to the temple?

This happens to me every time also. I wait a few days and when I go back to Riften, she's back at the temple.

This seems to be an issue with marriage in general. In the future the best thing to do is talk to your spouse before they ever leave the Temple and tell them where you want to live.

When Ysolda ran off after my character's marriage with her, I consoled myself to her position. She was idly walking around near Fort Amol (or was it near Nilfheim?), with a flower basket in her hands. I think she was slowly on her way back to Whiterun, because she arrived there one or two days later indeed.

It's a known bug. You have to close the dialog with the priest asap and talk to the spouse as she heads towards the door, then tell her where you want to live. If you don't catch her she vanishes for a while but reappears back at the Temple.

Just a rumor, but maybe Lydia and Farkas have been seeing each other on the side, if you know what I mean :hubbahubba:

Or maybe she's at the temple waiting for you to ask her to go home.

Lydia got cold feet and ran away from you. She didn't even want to be your housecarl yet marriage? Theirs too much that a woman can deal with you know.

Yeh an annoying bug this, means you can't listen to the priest dialogue or you risk losing your wife, as soon as she starts walking off you have to close the priest dialogue and talk to her before she exits the temple.

Really I'm surprised Bethesda hasn't fixed this yet.

(Looks at current user bug listing...)

... then again, maybe I'm not.

Sleep. Not sure if rest works. I slept at breeze home since she was my carl there and when I awoke she was there puttering around.

Lydia walked away from the Ceremony shortly after its completion, in my game universe. She walks to the side of the Temple and stays there awaiting you to discuss where you should both live. It is a bit difficult to see her, and I had to use the place_me_at console command to find her. She was still in the Temple, a bit miffed I had taken two days to find her.

She reminds me too much of my IRL wife and partner. It makes it even stranger to be out hunting Dragon Priests with her, but it seems the roles of being "Swords and Shields" is more shared.
