Help with a problem the doctors are clueless about

Post » Fri Sep 20, 2013 10:00 pm

So for 3 days I have had a certain par of my foot ( a section of the left top side of my right foot) has gone numb. The doctors are clueless and have no idea what it could be because it is in such a localised spot. It's starting to irritate me a little bit because he says just ride it out and see if it goes away, which I have no choice on but I would love to know if anyone has any idea on what maybe causing it. The docs might not know but JUST MAYBE, somebody here has also experienced it.

The lower part of my leg has started to ache when I walk now too , maybe because I am putting pressure on it by walking funny (because of the numbness) I don't know. I'm leaving for university tomorrow and this is a poor way of starting out lol

Anyone have any idea??

Without any medical history it's really quite hard to determine what it could be. Do you have any allergies? And have you ever had a broken ankle or toes before? Because numbness is usually caused when nerves are damaged. It may also be an insect bite of course, but they usually leave a mark.

I don't have any medical history that concerns this no, broke my hand a long time ago that's about it. I'm 24, I usually only get a numb foot if I'm in a certain poison for too long. I ain't done anything out of the ordinarily, in fact iv done VERY little iv spent these past 3 days sitting In a chair playing video games while I wait for uni to come around. I don't have any allergies, not at least any I know of.

Let's not jump to conclusions that are this dramatic! I got screen for diabetes earlier this year. (Or late last year can't remember) and it was clear. I'm sure it could maybe roll around at any time but I'm also sure there probably 101 things that could be causing this.

I'm not a doctor and you asked if I had any idea what is causing this, diabetes could be one. Since I don't know your medical history I couldn't knock it off before posting

If you've had it more than a week or two go to the hospital if your local doctor can't help. Various Xrays or blood samples might show something. It's probably just a sprain, apply a bandage and sit around for a few days.

Is there swelling?

A gaming forum isn't the place for this kinda question, there's plenty of medical forums out there but?

Maybe it is your lack of activity.

It's probably one of these two things.

Doctors don't know what it is, so you instead decided to draw on the vast number of trained medical professionals on a gaming forum for a second opinion?

I saw no harm in asking here, I didn't ask for a diagnosis I just asked if anyone has had anything similar. I will just ride it now, iv gone past the hypercondriact state of thinking is it diabetes or is it MS, but I just have one of them symptoms so I just think to ride it out. You can't sneeze or cough without it being a symptom of aids or lung cancer.

I guess thanks for your help I will take some of your advice and go for a jog, leaving for uni tomorrow and that will get me active again I hope :)

A friend of mine had the same symptoms as you, and he needed some vascular (blood vein) surgery to resolve it. And, then go see a neurosurgeon.

However, you should not rely on medical advice from a community forum, you need to see a medical professional and get some second opinions.

In case you worry a lot, you may have solved it yourself, you know. Keeping one bad position for too long, you may keep the numbness. Did that once, I read on my screen for a whole evening, unthinkingly with my head in my hand and the weight of it therefore on my elbow : stupid partially numb/prickly left hand for a couple of weeks afterwards.:P

This. But since we're not doctors we can't be sure. Perhaps you need to go see some different doctors?

If you're not satisfied with what your doctor is telling you, you need to see another doctor and get a second opinion.

Maybe there's no harm in asking about it here, but there's nothing to gain in it either. Unless you've been given a complete physical exam and any other necessary tests, and had them interpreted by a trained professional, nothing that anyone can tell you here is worth anything.
