I downloaded the 1.8 patch today, decided to create a new Dark Knight character, who could use a 2 handed bound battleaxe, with conjuration, destruction, restoration and alteration schools. The thing is, Im at level 11 and invested perks in all of those schools. Everything worked fine, until I unlocked the apprentice destruction perk, did that cuz I wanted to use runes for the first time, frost rune is the one I have, and after unlocking it I found out that the frost rune is lvl apprentice, but it doesnt cost half, it costs the whole ammount of magicka like if I never unlocked the perk, I know this because my whole bar of magicka drains up and it should consume only like half of it, compared to my others apprentice level conjuration spells that have the apprentice conjuration perk enabled, did 1.8 do this? am I missing something? I ask this because I haver never played with a character that had something to do with magic before
Not all spells cost the same amount of magica to cast.
For example, Conjure Flame Atronach has a base magica cost of 150 - frost rune has a base magicka cost of 293 (almost twice as much) even though both are apprentice level spells.
These costs drop as the associated skill(s) improve, and associated perks taken.
The current magicka cost for each spell you've learnt is listed in the MAGIC menu.
