Hey Beth, why no securitrons?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2016 2:49 pm

I am happy we got robobrains back but, I realized we don't have any securitrons! I know Beth hasn't really taken anything from NV, and it might not make a lot of sense lorewise, but it would have been cool to mix and match with some T.V robots.

As my icon might suggest, I'd be down with that.

No securitron would be able to replace Yesman, though. D:

Also, inb4falloutNvbashing.

Well, they were House's personal bots, it kinda makes sense that they aren't in the east.

I dunno, they could have said they got one from Big M.T and were trying to use it to improve the robobrains. Or just find blueprints in the base.

Securitrons are House's personal army, it'd be like seeing gen 1 or gen 2 synths on the west coast, wouldn't make any sense.

Well you could make the argument that the Mechanist would endeavour to make himself aware of all robot schematics and variations, and would have taken the time to study those schematics (assuming he's willing to trek in a weird circle to Nevada and back to the East Coast). Lore shouldn't always supercede fun additions, and I think Securitrons (especially if you can customize the face) would've been an awesome addition.

Though it would probably cause people to flack Bethesda for being unoriginal if they did it.

Well if that's the case, then I should be able to make my own synth now.

If the brains in the Big empty couldn't figure out how Mr house made securitrons work, what excuse could we make for some army grunt figuring it out? :ahhh:

AI and Robotics are probably two vastly different subjects though. Unless you want Gen 1s.

Never played Old World Blues, have it, but never played it, so I wouldn't know anything about it :P

Been planning to play New Vegas again, but never have the time.

EDIT: Should point out I have no clue about anything to do with robotics and AI. Only ever operated a dispensing robot and even then it's just typing stuff on a screen and watching the meds slide out a chute for me to bag...

Dude, you gotta play it! The info dump at the start is a bit much--but it's the funniest DLC I've ever played. :P Plus, you get some nice tech to play around with. Like....

Spoiler
A talking stealth suit for starters--she is a sweetheart and, once upgraded, a damn good stealth suit!

The Securitrons are prewar while synths are post war. If they can be at big mountain, I'm sure others could have them elsewhere. Heck some long forgotten notes at CIT made by House could have had something about them. We already have Enclave armor laying round for no reason.

Except the Securitrons there were all broken, none of them were functioning and the plant itself wasn't a production plant, it was DE-construction http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Securitron_de-construction_plant

The only purpose the securitrons had there were being taking apart, it was a dumping ground and it was also possibly illegal at that since the Big MT wasn't Robco-affiliated with one scientist holding a great disdain for House. The only working securitron would be muggy and considering his personality working is a bit of a stretch. House purposely built Securitrons to be his armed force in the future post-apocalyptic wasteland

Spoiler
hence why most of his securitron force was holed up in a top secret facility under a weather station

Spoiler
Just having a blueprint randomly being in a government facility that was working on militarizing a specific kind of robot instead of robots in general wouldn't make sense, at least for the eyebot and wall-mounted light blueprints those were of Isabel's making.

Short story is, it wouldn't make any sense and be the most ham-fisted way to add in a new robot just because it was in lore at one point.
