I remember back in the day (I'm talking like 10-15 years ago) I remember hearing about people takiing games like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D and changing all of the sprites in the game and making new levels and basically making a whole new game out of it.

With mods on the PC where you can change how you start the game, I wonder if a person or group of people would put the effort in to completely make new races, have a different storyline, etc? Either to make an alternate-world version of skyrim, or to craft a world of their own altogether.

Obviously you couldn't remake every single dungeon, but you could change the game through modding enough that it would be a vastly different world. I'm just wondering if anyone is working toward anything like this, more of a curiousity type thing, not a "skyrim sux and we should change it".

I was thinking about how I used to make my own levels for Duke Nukem 3D back in the day and even did a little sprite editing and was wondering if anyone took this concept out of that stone age and into skyrim now.

Hm, the mod community has made some pretty expansive mods, but nothing to try to recreate Skyrim. That would be pretty hard for a few people to do, considering the size
