Hidden Content. Canon?!?!

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2016 5:32 pm

Hey guys.

Just wondering, in your opinion does cut content (stuff that was meant to be in-game but was either removed or not added in) still count as canon.

I mean there are a lot of removed content in the various Elder Scrolls Games.

I know canon is anything that appears in-game or is from official outside game sources. So does anything that was planned but removed still count as canon.

Well, if it doesn't make an appearance there might also be another reason than just ''not enough time'', obviously things were left out because they didn't fit. Such as Skyrim's original intro.

Imo, Skyrim SE should've added a lot of the cut content.

What's Skyrim original intro?!

As for the original question; sometimes you have to look at the content and decide if it is just an extension of things that have happened in the game and just were cut out for lack of time or not possible with the game engine. If it is something completely new then you cannot really say for certainty what the developers were thinking about.

I assume you saw the post I made with the Altmer content that was cut out. Some of that was somewhat reworked and put into other quests. Eg. People being turned into statues or using Welkynd stones as defence systems, for example you use Welkynd stones to power a harbour defence system in Firsthold to burn attacking Maormer ships.

Well, it did fit, but it didn't work smoothly. Maybe original is also a bit of a big word, let's just say an ''unused intro''.

I don't know if links to YT are allowed here, but if you're on YT, search for Publick Gamer - Skyrim Unused Opening Scene

I think that was mostly changed because the cart dialog was stilted and Hadvar was unlikable.

Regardless of the matter, it is cut content, but in the game files.

This is why it's not canon, because it's not used.
