Hircinewerewolf questions.

So just to clarify I though I would post this question here because it is related to werewolves.
Long story short I don't like being a vampire/vampire lord and after I master VL I'm going to reload a previous save to join the Dawnguard instead.
Having said that I'm going to fully complete the companions questlines before I go to the Dawnguard.
I've never done Hircine's quest before so I just have a few curious questions.
By my understanding after consulting the UESP it seems that to take full advantage of the roars, all Hircine's totems need to be collected?
Also it appears that the ring does nothing if you're not a werewolf?
Mentioning that, what happens if you complete the quest without being a werewolf?

If you complete the quest without being a werewolf nothing different happens...I will recommend you go against Hircine's wishes first..get the reward when you leave...then go back in and do what he wanted you to do initially, get both rewards, have to mention that so you won't get robbed of a very good item that benefits werewolves and makes leveling up the perk tree easier.

One allows you to infinitely turn into a WW if you are one initially..no once a day stuff and the other is..well I won't spoil that part for you.

Being a WW does nothing for the Hircine quest cept the cursed ring randomly turns you into a WW.

Much appreciated!
So to clarify if I hypothetically completed Hircine's quest without beast blood and received the Ring of Hircine, it's essentially a useless reward until I become a werewolf?
Also not sure if you know but to clarify about the totems, if I had the werewolf perk tree mastered yet none of the totems would I be unable to use any of the different howls even though I obtained the perk for them?

Yes you need to collect the totems to use them. You can have only one totem active at any time.

U can have only one totem active at a time.

You can still spend perks into other totems that arnt active (i.e. If you have Howl of Fear active but spend perks towards other howls, thats fine, it still affects the howl.)

But the Howl of Fear is automatically activated on your Werewolf.

Its useless until you become a werewolf, yes..it is very cool looking though.

After receiving that, go back in for the other reward, remember that. =P

You have to do companions radiant quests for Aela to get the totems by the way, takes around 3 quests before you get one that tells you where a totem is.

Could you ruin it for me then? Because I've done the Ring quest line, and I'm only aware of two possible items, one for each of the two possible outcomes. Are you saying that I could have both?...is there a third I'm not aware of?...if not, then what good is the "other" item. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to do the

it actually is possible to get both but I don't remember how...

I think it's along the lines of saving the werewolf, and killing the hunters. Then afterward killing the wolf and taking his skin. I think that's how it worked but I'll have to look it up.

Huh! I took a look at its stats originally and thought '..pft...I can make better...', but after reading up on it (and http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/images/5/5b/Saviors-hide-female.jpg it :hubbahubba: ) I think I need to go back and get it!

Yeah, after saving sinding from the hunters (I used that opportunity to turn into a WW and start slaughtering all the hunters to give me a nice boost on my perk tree) I left..got the ring..you go back in after getting the ring, kill sinding and activate his corpse like you're gonna search it, choose yes to "Tear the skin from his body" or whatever it says..and Hircine appears again and gives you the other Hircine champion reward...in other words you're Hircine's ultimate champion/hound.

Hircine's ring and Saviour's Hide AND you possibly maxed out the Lycanthropy skill tree?

You please Hircine greatly.

I treat my WW transformations like how they were in Bloodmoon.

I HAVE to kill a humanoid and..eat his flesh when I turn into a WW to sate the bloodlust, if I kill enough people after sating the bloodlust, I please Hircine enough and he grants me a upgrade to my Lycan form..like how it worked in Bloodmoon granted if I recall Bloodmoon had special quests that gave you them but it is basically the same premise.

Bestial strength is like the buff he gave to your claws in Bloodmoon in my opinion, its just..it has 4 levels now. =P

In my opinion, when you max out the Lycan skill tree you become an Alpha Werewolf, doesn't hurt to be the leader of the other werewolves in the Companions.. =P

Go pup, become Hircine's greatest champion/hound!

...in your game.

>_>
