Holy crap! It worked! It worked!

After 1500+ hours I was finally able to play through the quest: Blood on the Ice.

Has anyone had any other quests that they routinely can't do because of bugs?

:bunny: :bunny: That's great!!! I know it's bugged to high heaven for some ppl.

The only Quest I've had bug out to the point I couldn't finish with that character is the MQ,
Spoiler
Character froze in place in the Time wound
Even going back several saves loosing 5 lvl's didn't work.

By the Nine!

The worst case of bugs I've had with that quest is a permanent Strange Amulet.

I am glad you made it through it! I guess I am one of the fortunate ones, as I have not encountered an issue with that quest after two playthroughs of it. Actually, I haven't had any quest to be incompletable on Xbox or the PC.

My only issue is that amulet. I'm stuck with it forever now. That really was a tough quest to figure out. Not much in the way of "intuitive" dialogue. Congrats!

I have never been unable to progress a quest because of bugs, I have though had many quests remain active after completion and quest items permanently stuck in my pockets... done blood on the ice twice with no issues.

I started that quest with console command... that was the only way I could start it... And had to use it again a few times because I could not speak to the guard... :P

I was stuck with the amulet and still had no option to buy the house. Hopefully with this new character I can actually complete the quest properly.

Yeah I'm stuck with the amulet too. Don't know if I can buy the house.

i think you can avoid beeing stuck with the amulet by...

Spoiler
...accusing the mage first so that he becomes imprisoned. i played this quest several times, and only by doing it the other way, the amulet can not be removed from the inventory. but still, this is just a guess

you can buy the house anyway.

edit:
Spoiler
you need to do the civil war thing too, to be able to buy the house

I kind of like the amulet. Very unique. Anyway, this is good news, hopefully everyone else will be able to complete this quest now.

One of my biggest problems was doing a quest without it ever actually officially activating. I couldn't check my quest log because it wasn't there but all the quest dialogue was.

Still have the amulet - can't buy the house - but guess I "finished" it  - or guess not if I can't buy the house...it WAS a fun one! Probably should have thought more carefully about who to accuse & when...didn't look at Wiki just ploughed thru it...

I can't finish The Raid (stopping Skooma operation for Riften) - so can't be Riften Thane - which is pretty common. I've tried every suggested work around & that cave will not repopulate (chests yes, people no...weird that).

Also - I'm stuck at helping 2/3 folks in Falkreth - though I know I've done every possible quest there...so no Thane there either & can't find any info on work arounds for this one.

Still lots to do in old Skyrim - but it goes against my OCD nature to leave things undone :wallbash:

Done it twice, been successful both times, but with difficulties both times. I had trouble with the whole "arrow on the gravestone" thing, because I didn't realize you had to follow the blood trail. Once I realized that part, it was fairly routine.

Sadly, the first time I did it, I didn't know everything, so I wound up accusing the wrong person.

I played most of this game before the patching (not counting the release day patch) and I had no quests glitch or bugs that could not be resolved with loading an earlier save. And, I only had to do that a couple of times.

Blood on the Ice was an issue because the trigger for the quest to start was so far away from the quest location that it could be triggered, then the scripted events would happen, then the quest would stick because no one was around.

If you guys mean turn the Strange Amulet into
Spoiler
The Necromancer's Amulet, then you have to sell it to Calixto before you get to the point of accusing the court mage or anyone else. Otherwise it will always remain the Strange Amulet, and be stuck in your inventory.
