Horse armor the most hated Bethesda DLC?

Post » Mon Aug 15, 2011 9:31 am

I'd say its gotta be Horse armor by far. What do you guys think? Is any of the Fallout series DLC worse?

EDIT: Seems theres alot of hate for MZ :D. I actually didnt mind it that much since all the new weapons it added to the game. Anyhow I added the option to the poll.

Horse armor was a DLC for Elder Scrolls 4. Another game by bethesda. A very good game. But all this DLC did for like $5 was give your horse armor. Thats it.

MZ crashes my game. I have never (not once) had FO3 not crash on startup with MZ set to load. (and that's with a vanilla install.)

I don't even know what horse armor is... :sadvaultboy:

Mothership Zeta is hands down the worst piece of crap ever made for Fallout since "The Burned Game."

I have no idea what the DLCs are like for other Bethesda games, so it isn't really far to have a cross game series comparison. Still even without knowing that, Mothership Zeta is the worst, followed closely by Broken Steel.

I figure it is because people don't like aliens in their fallout as the main point of something.

Pointless story. Alien abduction hurr-durr.
Not even a shred of creativity. Nothing that hasn't been thought of in the last 20 years.
Doesn't fit with the game's setting and lore at all.
Extremely buggy design. Multiple game breaking bugs.

"Hate" would be an understatement.

This.

It would have been awesome to have the Pitt expanded to include more of the City to explore (its a shame a modder hasn't done that).

Bethesda could have scrapped MZ and instead put that effort into a DLC for the Pitt. It would have been a DLC within a DLC.

Well besides the alien guns, I agree they could have done the Pitt as the whole city, or something similar.

Aliens don't belong in Fallout. In past games they were nothing but a joke, an easter egg. Bethesda took it way to far with Mothership Zeta. To the point where they even hinted at Aliens being a possible cause of the Great War. Which goes against Fallout: "The end of the world occurred pretty much as we had predicted; too many humans and not enough space or resources to go around. The details are trivial and pointless, the reasons as always, purely human ones."

I think the part of it was about how the aliens possibly created humans, and that is why they check on them. So if they created humans, and their creations were going to blow themselves up, then they would be a reason.

But as we see them making those abominations, that is probally not the case, helping what you said.

I personally believe that even Bethesda considers MZ non-canon.

Its just that ridiculous.

I guess for me and not understanding it is...

I didn't like any of Fallout 3's DLCs. None of them were amazing and none of them had a really good storyline. However, I at least found Operation Anchorage and Mothership Zeta fun to play through. I wasn't fond of the scavanging style of the Pitt, just could never really get into Point Lookout for some reason and Broken Steel was just there for the post-end gameplay. NONE were award-winning stories or incredibly creative.

But ok. What were some of the canon issues though? I know people say "aliens were an easter egg," but I'm asking for specifics. Styles mentioned one I can see the hate for (hinting aliens started the Great War when the ENTIRE purpose of the Fallout series is that war never changes because of HUMAN nature, that's just bad writing), but are there anymore? I just don't get the big deal if Zeta makes aliens canon. There's aliens now. So what?

I bet most here didn't have the balls or the guts to get the Horse Armor on April Fools Day when it went on sale for $10.

Doesn't fit with the game setting? It's the '50s setting man, it's all about them aliens! Where were you in the 50s?
