Horse A.I.

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 1:42 pm

hi, i have found the horse a.i. to be a little silly.I understand a horse will defend itself, but most of the time horses seem to be the aggressors. As an example - i get a quest , ride to quest area, "park " my horse some yards away from said fort, castle, tower etc and start walking to my destination, suddenly my horse charges past me and starts clearing out the place, going from one opponent to the next, i arrive in the fort and have to fight my opponent with my horse praticaly on top of me while i try to "enjoy" the combat. This is utterly ridiculous. The horse should stay parked away from the quest area where i left him.I understand self defense, someone may be shooting an arrow from a wall down on him, then he should trot away a few yards to safety not run into said fort and start cleaning house and getting in my way, its pretty dumb i have to battle around my horse to get in on an opponent.I hope this is something that will be looked at in the future as its quite immersion breaking.I prefer my horse to be my ride to said destinations not a battle companion thats just under foot.Sure he should defend himself on the roads against a random bear, spider, wolf attack, but running into a fort full of bandits is just poor a.i. in my opinion........please fix these "intrusions".Sometimes said horses die because of this ai programming and its a pain to keep having to purchase horses because of the behavior that exists this far.Does anyone else feel this way?

Horses would make a lot more sense if we could fight from them...or in fact do anything other than clippety-clop along (Mount and Blade had this, it's nothing new).

Heh, I do my daily Skyrim mod browsing. Just came across this mod for PC, "Horses are more cowardly" They will run off to safe spot when aggroed. Only catch is won't work on horse you currently own so let it get killed and buy new one.

Poor Console gamers... haha

Cowardly horses for Skyrim
Version 1
25.11.11
By JPro6.

ABOUT

This mod should make all horses in Skyrim cowardly so that if you dismount them while being attacked they will flee to a safe distance. The mod will NOT work for your current horse, you have to buy a new horse for it to take effect. (It may possibly work if you respawn/clone your horse, I haven't tried that). This mod also has an option to make horses essential so that they can't die in the event that they do get caught up in a battle. (When they reach zero health they will be unrideable for about 20 seconds before returning to normal).

Yes, mount and blade had it and i fell in love with that game because of it, if skyrim had it, it would be the best game ive ever played imo.

I haven't had this problem yet; in fact, my horse tends to run so far I never find him unless I go to another town!

As an aside, I think the word "cowardly" really doesn't apply to horses. It should be, "If you want to make your horse more sensible/realistic..." Semantics, I know.

Even the Nord horse are warriors.

If they should fight at least they need armor and some eye-shooting lasers. :disguise:

I want to shoot arrows and spells from horseback for sure. Any other mounted combat would probably be terrible though. Its difficult enough to land hits some times when mobs are right in your face and yer on the ground.

Since I have Shadowmere, I just treat him as another companion. He's pretty tough.
