Hostess: Twinkies to return July 15th

Post » Mon Jun 24, 2013 3:17 am

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/06/23/twinkies-return/2450233/ Now we can survive a nuclear fallout!

But seriously, it is good to see a classic come back. What other goodies from Hostess have you liked?

EDIT: Added that new slogan they will have on the new boxes as tags--"The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever."

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twinkie_defense!

Yeah, we in the cold North don't get to have those things. You Americans seem to be quite fond of them though, and I'll probably give it a try if I ever get the chance.

Good thing for county fairs. I was wondering what would happen to them without deep-friend chocolate-covered twinkies being sold.

Uh-oh, that sounds like it could give any healthy person a heart attack. Sounds pretty horrid, too.

Do I want to look that up?

My county fair also sells deep-fried oreos and deep-fried pudding (not sure how the second one works, nor do I ever want to find out)

Ha, I think I'll pass.

So it has like a "Deep fry everything" philosophy? That's interesting, I suppose. A little disturbing, but interesting nonetheless.

I have no idea how deep-fried pudding works. I've heard about deep-fried butter as well, but I thought that was a joke.

That's madness!

I have never eaten a Twinkie because they don't sell them here. Do they taste good?

Ever been to Scotland?

Only place where I've seen deep-fried Mars bars on the menu.

Think of angel food cake as a bar-like product filled with thin, fluffy cream

Added the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twinkie_defense in the OP for the sake of it.

I've been to Scotland and I've heard about deep-fried Mars bars now that you mention it. I never stumbled upon then though, and I don't think I'd try them even if I did.

With some posts saying they never had one, I created a poll about Twinkies for you guys just to see who has or hasn't had any and if it was by choice or by region :)

Actually, come to think of it, that American shop with the vanilla coke might sell them.

I could be in luck to try one yet.

Meh. I can't eat wheat and when we heard that Hostess was going out of business, we decided to try a Hostess cupcake (which I liked more than Twinkies as a kid) for the first time in like fifteen years and decided we didn't really care if we never had their products again, haha.
