I've only dabbled a tiny bit with the hotkey system.

I know how to assign the keys and equip stuff with them, but I'm not sure if I can assign them to a particular hand.

Like suppose I have a fire spell, a healing spell, and a sword hotkeyed, 1, 2, 3.

I have equipped
Fire L / Sword R

And I want to switch to
Healing L / Sword R

And then a second later I want to switch to
Healing L / Fire R

If I just push 1, 2, or 3, won't that item equip in my right hand? Can I hotkey something to always go L? Or is there a modifier key I can press, like Shift-3 to equip sword in left hand?

Stuff is first put into your left hand, and then into your right, except for one-handed weapons which always go to your right hand.

So basically, if you're dual-wielding Flames and press the hotkey for Healing, Healing will go into your left hand and you'll have Healing + Flames. If you press the hotkey for a dagger, the dagger goes to your right hand and you'll have Healing + Dagger.

So spells always alternate hands?

Suppose I have two swords equipped. Then I hit hotkeys for Flame spell, Healing spell, Ward spell. What do I end up with?

Would it make a difference if I started with two spells equipped?

You would go from two swords to..

Flame spell / Sword

Healing spell / Sword

Ward spell / Sword

Your right hand will not change to a spell unless you double tap the hotkey.

Lets say your setup is
1. Sword
2. Flames
3. Heal

If you want to go from flames/sword to heal/flames you would need to hit 2 first to put flames on both hands and then hit 3 to put heal on your left.
