Hotkeys on PC?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 1:21 pm

For the guys who can already play Skyrim on the PC: Can we use hotkeys (e.g. the numers) to assign weapons/spells to them or do we have to use the favourites menu like console users?

You can use both favourites like on xbox/ps3 and hotkeys from 1 to 8.

at 5.19 of the video "I found the pc version a little cumbersome and I really miss hot keys. For oblivion and morrowind you could set spells to your number bar"

Well, I already received my copy of Skyrim and in instruction it clearly states that hotkeys are implemented, so don't worry.

I hope it's 1-5 left and 6-0 right. I'd hate for all the keys to be just for one hand. Or that there's a modifier key to select hand.

In Oblivion, one of the most essential mods was "Expanded Hotkeys and Spell Delete". It allowed you to use CTRL, ALT and SHIFT along with 1-8 for a total of 32 hotkey combinations, it also let you delete spells from your spellbook. Skyrim will need a similar mod if we're just limited to 1-8 and Favorites.

It doesn't matter actually - it states there, that you just need to select a spell/weapon from your favourites and hold button from 1 to 8 for a second and voila, it's hotkeyed already.

Oh, and you decide to which hand it goes by mouse clicks, LMB is left hand, RMB is right.

So what, you hold the hotkey then click the mouse?

That's pretty much what it's like in Oblivion, how could they have missed that in the review?

Don't ask me, maybe they didn't checked the manual.

So what, you hold the hotkey then click the mouse?

First you put some item/spell into favorites list, next you click LMB or RMB to equip it and finally you hold one of hotkeys (1-8) to add it.

From now on, after pressing the specific hotkey item/spell equips automatically.

Furthermore, you can add combos like shield+weapon into hotkey or two different spells, all in one button.

Hope you get it now :)
