Okay basically I'm just curious if there is a way i can get my own house like in fallout 3, if anyone can help or has any other related advice either email me or post, thanks guys!

In Novac, you get a Motel Room Key from the guy who runs the gift shop (i forget his name). You just have to complete a couple quests in Novac and become well-liked, and he gives you a free room key.

Not to correct anybody, but it's actually far easier than that.
Just go to Jean-Marie inside the Novac office across from the Dino-Byte gift shop, and give her 100 caps; she gives you a permanent motel room. No quests necessary!

MAKE SURE you do this before you do Boone's initial quest if you want the motel room, by the way.

Yes, that's true too. But the Quest rewards you with stuff, so I'd do it anyway, even if you don't want Boone as a companion.

Also, if you side with Mr. House, he gives you the Presidential Sweet in the Lucky 38 as a gift which you can use.
