So how about that upgraded interface and textures?

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/07/06/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-pc-to-get-mod-tools-high-res-textures-and-upgraded-interface/

'"We’ll be getting better textures, “larger render modes,” mod tools and a better interface. Bethesda promise that we won’t see a return of Oblivion’s enormous fonts.'

'“The PC version also gets higher res textures, larger render modes, and a bunch of other effects you can scale up if your machine is a beast,” they add.'

It's pretty clear that the interface on the PC version is lifted directly from consoles. It is not keyboard and mouse friendly and is disgustingly huge. Moreover, the only gamepad supported is an Xbox controller.
It is also clear that the textures are barely improved from the console. The armor and clothing textures look lower res than Oblivion's. I highly doubt we are getting post-release texture packs.

I will say that the faces are good (despite lip-syncing issues), the lighting is good and the shadows would be good if they didn't glitch around so much.

Overall, I think PC gamers have been shafted. Forget the modding tools, this is a 100%, pure console port, and frankly I'm disappointed. It's still a great game, don't get me wrong, but it is clear Bethesda has little regard for their PC audience. The modding tools are at best an obligation. Beyond that, they simply do not care.

Don't believe their lies. That is all.

I know what you mean. "Dynamic" shadows my ass. The textures truly are atrocious and I've seen quite a bit of glitches and I've only played a few hours. I like the game, it's just they could have done better.

Might have something to do with the scope of the world and whatnot. Theres alot going on on screen at most times.

CDPR with Witcher 2 - Console minded development, then ported. DICE with BF3 switched to Console MID-DEVELOPMENT. Now, Beth'... I know they are companies and businesses therefore need to make money.... But I still had hope some companies still loved PC Gamers enough...

Not at home ATM, but have the game at home. Is it a direct port from console or did they modify the stuff a bit to make it PC friendlier?

I'm on PC,some clothing really do look low rez compare to some armours.

IDK,maybe its a bug not detecting most texture to load the correct sets,I run Ultra or MAx settings.

I don't worry to much about the textures. They look pretty good as is, but was overhyped by the fans.
The interface took some time to get used to, but it actually isn't that bad as people led me to believe.

The shadows are horrendous, but otherwise the game is godly.

It's the xbox version, nothing has been done to even remotely make the interface work on a pc, unless you own an xbox controller, which is also the only controller it'll work with apparently, won't let me choose to use my logitech rumblepad anyways...

Pretty much direct port. The UI is horrible from a mouse+keyboard point of view.

Yeah they are. The interface is indisputably a lie.
I've also just seen the "Dynamic Snow" and I'm laughing my ass off. It's literally just a white texture over whatever is snowed in.

I've seen enough tables and walls in this game that look worse than what I saw in oblivion yesterday. Some textures look good, but lots of them are unquestionably horrible. I have to keep checking to see if my texture options hasn't been changed to low. :/
Is there something wrong? Is the game not loading high res textures properly?

Can't speak from personal experience, but it mostly looks and works the same.

Also, if it has problems that's by design on both the PC and the console, for the life of me, I still can't figure out how categorized lists are suddenly less PC friendly than, say, this very forum...

I really am enjoying the game and it seems like an Elder Scroll to me. Yeah the interface could have been a little more friendly to the PC, but I adapted and I am moving on to great game play.

Just my two coin...

Last I checked, the UI is part of the game, and counts towards "good gameplay"

Oh boy! Here we go with the "lies" threads.

Can "I have been betrayed by Bethesda" threads be far off? Don't start until I get my popcorn!

UI is same as on Xbox. PC is capable of a much more fluid interface, why don't designers who make PC games know this?
