How are Morrowind and Blackmarsh allies?

We know for a fact that Argonians were still kept as slaves by the Dunmer in the Third Era. We know the abolitionist movement wasn't even gaining momentum until 3E 427.

This game takes place in the 2nd Era, around 2E 582. It is even acknowledged that they were keeping them as slaves well before the Armistice of 2E 896. I was under the impression that the Dunmer have been capturing Argonians in Black Marsh for ages as part of their ancient traditions. How can they possibly be allies, are some Argonians going to be seen as slaves in Morrowind but some also allies??

In TESO, the Argonians and Dunmer are ALLIES. Even if they hadn't began keeping slaves at that time, why would they possibly make a transition from allies against the rest of Tamriel to enslaving Argonians for an era to come? The three-way war ends and they just say "oh well lets just start enslaving them"?

The Nords also invaded Morrowind in the late first era and then again at the end of the third era after the oblivion crisis. This makes them seem capricious.

This alliance itself seems more than unlikely to me.. I think it is just based on geography.

The only way this will work is with some serious splainin' in the actual game.. which I am open to and I will at least try the game regardless, but I can't think of how this fits in well with the timeline of anything unless they say it was like an inexplicable 'dragon break' period.

Another question: Do you think the in-game year will be tracked as days pass? Because if it goes on long enough won't it reach the time of future events?

Also, I did a search for threads on this topic but I didn't look very far back. In EQ2 if you did /time it told you the in-game day/year/time but I'm not sure if this is in a lot of other MMOS

I think the Argonians are being forced into the war because they are slaves.

No, The game won't head into future events if you played it for an entire year every day all day. Bethesda made it that way, You would have to wait until the next TES game.

There is no reason there can't be enslaved and free argonians side by side. Even in TES III, there were plenty of free argonians, in a time and place where argonians were the primary race for slaves. Hell, the player could even buy one for themselves, even if said player WAS an argonian. It is pretty much acknowledged that the three nations of the Ebonheart pact all hate each other, and are only in it to protect themselves, so yes it is basically geography that has forced them together.

Obviously the events wouldn't take place, but still there are certain events that should take place if they do an in-game day count that tracks the years progress. Although I don't know how many days are in a year in TES. Say 4 days in-game days pass in one real life day, if in-game years were the same as ours then you would expect years to be passing at 4x as fast and then it should technically reach other events that take place in the second era.

There is a gap of several hundred years that the devs have to play with, so TESO would have to thrive for 25 years even on that system in order to cause any problems.

I doubt they would stick to a calendar though, as that would force them to recognize auspicious days etc, and bar them from pulling a Cata and going "kay it's five years later now". They would basically have to plan any and all future content around the existing calendar and timeline, which would be very restricting and inconvenient.

Yea I know what you mean that there are free and enslaved side-by-side in Morrowind, but it seems a stretch for them to also be allies in a war.. there needs to be a certain amount of trust involved that you can't just create after bad history.

It would be weird from a roleplaying perspective to play a Dunmer with an Argonian slave and then team up with other Argonians in adventuring lol. xD

The only thing I really like about in-game calendars is that I can use it to Roleplay, like when to know the best time to summon Daedra lords and such lol. I suppose it could just be one of those points in time where the whole space/time got messed up by mortal tampering... lol.
